Lnghrn
Nil makes it a lot easier to skip the baseball draft. I assume he gets a cut of football nil and baseball since he is duel sport. He can go to college and obtain good nil. He can assess which sport works out best for him in college. This gives him optionality.

Don't think he's quite there as a baseball player. He looks pretty raw, but he definitely relies on his athleticism. He will be a top draft pick in three years in either football or baseball. Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted August 5 Author Moderators Share Posted August 5 Updating this: OTF spoke with someone very close to the Williams recruitment. What we reported this morning from Galveston Ball High practice is where Jonah's head/intentions are at right now. He really wants to play college football. And he currently plans to play both in college.
Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted August 5 Author Moderators Share Posted August 5 One other note ... should Jonah's decision to play both football and baseball in college stick, that makes travel for a family that lives near Galveston much more difficult. Jonah will announce his decision August 24.

Ball High School to: Texas A&M - 145 miles, appx. 2 hours 30 minutes The University of Texas - 216 miles, appx. 3 hours 30 minutes Louisiana State University - 289 miles, appx. 4 hours 45 minutes Seems like this would only eliminate Oregon. LSU is farther than UT and A&M but still drivable.

JMarquette
Oregon sounds like it would be surprising. It's basically us v. A&M at this point and the way this recruitment has *seemingly* trended past couple of weeks, Texas looks to be in a decent spot.
Jerky
No inside info. But I choose to have faith in Jonah Williams playing baseball in the spring and football in the fall at Texas! Hook Em!

If he comes here and plays baseball, he can't go in the mlb draft for three years unless he is the rare person old for his class, then possibly after his sophomore year. Sounds like somebody the baseball team could use.

dfwHorn
Hard to blame the kid, if he doesn’t know which sport he wants to play in the future then college is the route to go. You get one shot at life to get this kind of experience, may as well take it. Yes he is potentially walking away from 1st round baseball money, but NIL for a two sport athlete won’t be a bad concession and if he is that good he can still get it later. rocketman
9 hours ago, Gerry Hamilton said: OnTexasFootball stopped by Galveston Ball High today for football practice this morning. Ball High two-sport star Jonah Williams told OTF he’s planning to graduate high school in December. That is significant news as it means Williams is bypassing his senior season of high school baseball. Williams told OTF he plans on to play college baseball in the spring of 2025. And go through spring practice. Williams said he made the decision that he wants to experience college football, and that will also include college baseball. Again, this is per Jonah Williams an hour ago. If you want current information you can't get it on your phone. You have to go to the source! Great job Gerry, that's why you're the best at what you do.

Moosehorn
Nothing in that interview gives me any confidence whatsoever for Texas. Never even mentioned Texas until prompted by Gerry.
