• The Longhorns are fresh off playing three-straight AP Top 25 opponents - then-ranked No. 18-16 Oklahoma on Oct. 12 (34-3 W), then-ranked No. 5/4 Georgia on Oct. 19 (30-15 L) and then-ranked No. 25/25 Vanderbilt on Oct. 26 (27-24 W). Texas has three victories against ranked opponents this season with two coming on the road and one at a neutral site.

• Last time out, Texas defeated No. 25/25 Vanderbilt, 27-24, on the road in Nashville on Oct. 26. It marked UT's ninth-straight road win. Texas also won its first ever football game played in Nashville, Tenn., against Vanderbilt. The win for Texas clinched the first true road win by either team in the series history.

SARK'S STAMPEDE

• Under head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns are 21-4 in their last 25 games with their only four losses coming against top-12 teams.

• In Sarkisian's first 22 games as head coach at Texas, UT went 11-11.

• Since the start of the 2023 season UT is 19-3 (0.863) with the only three losses against AP top-12 ranked foes.

• Texas is 15-3 at home over the last three seasons with its only three losses to top-5 ranked foes (No. 5/4 Georgia on Oct. 19, No. 1/1 Alabama in 2022 and No. 4/4 TCU in 2022).

• Texas has won nine of its last 10 conference games, dating back to the Oct. 21, 2023.

• The Horns had won eight straight conference matchups before Georgia snapped the streak on Oct.19.

• Through seven games this season, the Texas offense under Steve Sarkisian is averaging 453.1 yards per game and 6.5 yards per play. The yards per game is tracking close to the UT single-season record set in 2005 (512.1) The yards per play would be on pace to be second behind only the 1993 team (7.44). Last season’s offense finished third (477.5) and fourth (6.67) in those categories, respectively. The current 294.7 passing yards per game is also inching close to a UT single--season record, held by the 2008 team (308.3).

A FREQUENT FACE IN THE AP POLL

• The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 5 in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll.

• Texas has been ranked in the Top 25 of both major polls for 31-straight weeks, including 25 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 and has earned a spot among the Top 5 in each 12 of the last 13 polls. That’s the longest AP Top 25 ranking streak since Mack Brown’s Longhorns were ranked among that poll's Top 25 for a UT-best 162-straight weeks (fifth-longest in AP Poll history) from 2000-10.

• Texas' streak of 31-consecutive weeks ranked in the AP Top 25 is the eighth-longest streak in the country and fourth-longest by an SEC team.

• Texas was unanimous No. 1 in both the AP Poll and AFCA Coaches Poll for two weeks (Oct. 5-Oct. 20) and held the top spot in at least one of the two major polls for five-straight weeks. That was the Horns longest streak at No. 1 since 1977 when they topped both polls for six consecutive weeks.

• Texas was ranked among the Top 25 of the Coaches Poll for a school-best 208-straight weeks from 1998-2010.

• The 25 straight weeks in the Top 10 is the best since the Longhorns spent 38-straight weeks in the Top 10 of one of the polls from 2007-10. UT’s streak in The AP Top 10 reached 34 during that stretch.

• The Top 5 streak of 11 weeks in a row that snapped on Oct. 20 was the longest streak since the Horns were ranked in the Top 5 of one of the polls for 32 weeks in-arow from 2007-10 (30-straight in the AP Top 5). • Texas has made 784 all-time appearances in the Associated Press Top 25, which debuted in 1936. Alabama and Oklahoma are the league’s only other current members to be featured in the AP Top 25 on more than 700 occasions.

Sure is nice having a head coach who knows what it takes to have success at a blue blood program like Texas.

It is truly amazing how infrequently Texas has played teams in the SEC.

Vandy was pre-WWII and the last time for Florida was before Pearl Harbor.

Texas was in a Southern football conference from the beginning of the 29th Century until about 1930s when the SEC was founded.  A lot of those teams were eventually SEC teams.

But what about TAMU?! Surely they’ve been ranked that high and often at Texas right? Or at least they should’ve been if they were more of a corporate fake university and football program?!
