We are the 5 seed (probably)

Recommended Posts

Unless Oregon loses we are the 5 seed IMO. Committee will want to have us avoid a rematch with Georgia for a 3rd time and the 6 or 7 would be on their side of the bracket.

Not to mention if they were to have ND or PSU jump us, they would have indicated that by putting them in front of us this past week.

Don't overthink this one.

I agree. Probably. I posted in another thread that I think this would mean playing Clemson then Az State. But
1. Penn st could make an argument if it’s super close

2. The committee would have to go against the tradition of always dropping a two loss team behind a one loss (Notre Dame). But they said they wouldn’t penalize teams for a championship game loss, and two losses to Ga is way better than ND’s to N Illinois.

3. You never know with committees.

From the Atlantic

How far will Texas fall?

Texas will probably drop a few spots from No. 2 in the rankings but stay high enough to host a first-round game.

Indiana, Alabama and Tennessee are the teams most likely to travel to Austin. But is it possible the committee gives the Longhorns a stringent reassessment in light of losing a lead to a backup quarterback in the second half Saturday? Remember, Miami plunged six spots last week after losing at Syracuse. Texas does not have a win over a ranked team and lost twice to the one it played this season. The safe guess is a drop to Georgia’s spot at No. 5 in the rankings, making it the No. 7 seed for a possible visit from Indiana in a 7-10 game. — Joe Rexrode

6th seed is better for Texas, the semifinal is in the Cotton Bowl. Good chance, Georgia is not there anyway with their injuries today.

You’d rather play Bama then Boise? I’d prefer Clemson then Az State.

The Atlantic is dumb for so many reasons but boy oh boy this is a terrible take.  No way Texas gets the 7 unless PSU beats Oregon and even then the 6 is far more likely. The committee isn't going to make UGA open with Texas.

I strongly doubt this.

I don't hate the 6 seed but I'd much rather play Clemson than Bama

The Atlantic is a joke. I’m so tired of this narrative that Texas hasn’t beaten a ranked team. We’ve actually beaten Michigan, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and TAMU who were ranked at the time we played them. We lost twice to a top 5 Georgia team that has won 2 of the last 3 national championships and is 11-2. Not only that but Miami losing to a BAD Syracuse team and eliminating themselves from the ACC championship game shows their ignorance and removed credibility immediately.

the 6 seed gives us the "easiest" path. You get a home game vs Clemson/SMU/Indiana. Then you get Boise, which will run off tackle like UGA did and we will need to tackle Jeanty with 4 guys. I also would like to avoid Oregon, i think UGA is a better matchup even though recent history states it isnt.

5 seed gets us Clemson/SMU/Bama and then Arizona St. Skettebo is gonna run on us like Jeanty would. But then we would be on the Oregon/Ohio St/ND side. I would rather be on UGA side.

I am hoping ND gets the 5, Texas 6, PSU 7.
