Texas final non-conference tune up tips off at 11am CST

The Horns are expected to have Tre Johnson and Jayson Kent back today.

Northwestern State comes in at 5-6.

Other than maybe an occasional baseball game, I don't think I ever recall a UT Athletics event ever going up head-to-head against church on a Sunday morning?

Larry to Onyema on the blind behind the back pass showed some real mutual court awareness.

Previous play where Pope got trapped in the corner when the ball should have stayed in the middle was inexcusable on the passer as well as on Pope, IMHO.

Yep I went to church. Just getting back. I am not going to watch a game on my phone during church.

We have the Pope, it's cool.

If they win 1 of the next 5 they have it’ll be a miracle. It’s going to be murders row for the next 5 SEC conference games

We'll be the underdog in each of those games, but not so much so that we will need a miracle to avoid going 0-5.

I'm not sold on OU, and even though we have to play that game in Norman, Porter Moser is 0-6 so far against Texas.

Tennessee is only 8 players deep, so any injury could cause a real problem for them.

Correct. OU has played a non-con SOS similar to ours. Good for them for going 13-0 but their best wins are Michigan and Arizona, both of which are not top 25 teams. We actually rank higher than OU in both KenPom and NET.

A&M also is far from unbeatable. They can really struggle to put the ball in the basket at times. We are also playing them while school is out so the atmosphere may not be what it could be.

BTW, we are now 358th in non-conference SOS according to Pomeroy.  That is out of 364 teams.  Nice going, CDC.  Yes, you brought in the defending national champs as part of a home and home deal, but then you added seven total garbage opponents.

I said when the non-conference schedule was posted that it was filled with crappy games.  I hated it then, and I hate it even more now.  Let's not do this again next year.

I don't care if we have to re-assemble a team through the portal every damn year.  We still deserve better than 7 complete joke non-conference home games.

Or maybe we don't deserve better, if we don't give CDC a hard time about it.

OU started 13-1 last year including winning their Big 12 opener against conference tournament champion ISU, then proceeded to those 11 of their final 18 games. Florida has also faced a pretty terrible OOC schedule, with their only true road game being Florida State.

Does he care? They are riding high with football. At the end of the day it comes back to Texas wanting a real basketball program. Does it look like they do?

Yeah, I understand why they did it, but this was an embarrassment. It shouldn't happen again. Ever.

They can run a nationally prominent program without hurting football.
