Possibly.  After the loss tonight we’re 0-3 vs decent trams, as I recall, and none of the losses were competitive.

tOSU was a one possession game with 9 minutes to go and a 7 point game with 4 minutes left.  We answered their 12-0 run to try to run away in the first half with a 10-0 run of our own.

We lost by 8, but it was a competitive game.

A competitive game against a mediocre BIG team is not the standard. I have been rooting for Rodney but this is the second year in a row the team can't mesh together. This year's team has more talent than last year's but barring a spectacular run in the tough SEC, they will finish worse than last year.

Is the Rodney Terry era gonna end after 2yrs?   It’s possible we go winless in January with the crazy conf schedule we have this month.

Hopefully, should have never been hired. Faster we move on the faster we can field a national competitive basketball team.

i hope so he creates no excitement.   look around at the other head coaches, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, football, swimming, track and field, beach volleyball, all head coaches with prestige and juice.   No one gets excited about Rodney Terry and that is just a fact.

Nate Oats would be a home run hire if CDC could make it happen.   Who else is likely to be on CDC’s short list?

Ridiculous that the SEC is so loaded with 10 ranked teams and UT not even in the Top25.   Longhorns appear to be in bottom 4 of SEC.  Crazy.  Salt in the would is seeing Barnes have such great success at the other UT.  Happy for him.  Great coach who builds strong sustaining programs.    It’s year 2 under RT and we seem to be regressing. In any other major sport this would be automatic time for major upgrade at end of this year by CDC.

We would have to pay 10+ million to Alabama to buy him out on top of whatever buyout we will owe Terry.

Whomever said the Drake HC is a genius....that dude is 43, multiple national championships won, and is rumored to be one of the best X's and O's guys in the country.

We were essentially forced into hiring him by the national media. He is very clearly not a Texas caliber head coach.

Agree.   I’ve read speculation that if RT can at least make the NCAA tournament as a 8-9 seed, he likely gets another year.   Why?    It’s clear watching the team, we need upgrade in head coach and staff (recruiting, portal, scheme, player development, etc)

CDC pulled the trigger last summer in baseball and I hope this spring it’s time for big upgrade in men’s basketball.

I'm not feeling great about how January's gonna go for the boys, but I'm gonna withhold judgment on RT until February. I do think this needs to be a do or die test for his tenure at Texas.

I think I agree with you.   We play 15 games in Jan/Feb.  11 of these games are against ranked teams.   We need to win all 4 games against unranked SEC opponents and at least 4 of the 11 other games against ranked teams for UT to have anything that feels positive this season.   Even that would mean 8-7 over the 2 month stretch.
