Clint Baros Posted January 22 Posted January 22 What are the hottest takes yall have had throughout your time as a Longhorn fan regarding Texas Football that most Texas fans would probably disagree with. i'll Start, If David Ash never had the injury problem he did, he would have been a top 5 QB in history for the program and Texas would have gone to at least one NY6/BCS bowl game. Deadhead_Horn Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I thought Johntay Cook was going to come in and be what people wanted Evan Stewart to be. Was absolutely convinced. Had no idea why he wasn't getting playing time as a freshman in front of all the stars in the receiver room. Boy, was I wrong. 6 Quote
cdibbs Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Not a hot take, but I did wonder what this year's team would've been like with Bijan. Feel like we had that guy just a year or two too early. 2 Quote

It would have been nice to have him in the later stretch with Brooks getting injured. Even a Demarvion Overshown to be a leader for the linebackers/ secondary would have been huge. 2 Quote

DiggsTX Posted January 22 Posted January 22 My superstitious take: the pre-Sark decade was a curse for how the fanbase treated Garrett Gilbert. Did he play well? Absolutely not! Should we ever boo one of our own players? Never, in my opinion. Sitting in the stands as a student while boos rained down on him was the most disappointed I've ever been in our fanbase. Always perceived us as classier than that, but it was one helluva fall from grace on and off the field. And that toxicity carried for a long time. I remember hearing folks boo Sam at times and getting into vitriolic arguments with them. I think we're in a better place now, though I was worried with the Quinn discourse for a bit that we were tilting back to our old ways. Winning keeps the hounds to a reasonable level of "discourse" I guess. 5 Quote

I feel bad for him being thrown in the fire vs Bama definitely messed his career up. Do not get my started with the Quinn hate, it is probably the most mind-numbing, braindead thing I have ever seen from a fanbase. They are acting like we are 5-7 when in reality he led us to two semi-finals appearances. Unfortunately, the loudest members of a fanbase are usually the ones who are "Casuals". I understand the Quinn haters are mostly the bandwagons we now have that just want a Manning to play. Just really bothers me that the QB who allowed me to finally see what Texas football at the top is like, is getting so much undeserved hate. Anyways I digress, good take👍 7 Quote

There’s a scenario where Texas beats both Ohio State and Georgia on the road, wins the other 9 games and trips up on the road in the swamp. I could see that too. 3 Quote

coltonmartinez Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Texas should stop choosing to keep wearing the Icy Whites in big bowl games. Sure they look great and we have won in them, but I want to have memories and iconic plays in the playoffs with the Burnt Orange jerseys 4 Quote

Love the stormtrooper look, but if Texas is considered the "home" team in neutral site games, they should wear their burnt orange jerseys. 2009 Fiesta Bowl comes to mind as a good memory of Texas beating Ohio State for me. 1 Quote

They are doing the best they can and they are what the coaches believe to be our best option. Do those booing think they could go out there and do better? Now for kneeling or other poor behavior, booing may be appropriate, but not for their play. 3 Quote
Roysterr Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Can you win a championship now if you don't have an athletic QB that can escape pocket and make plays with his feet? 1 Quote
