Sounds like our 2nd half defense against OSU could be the approach to use against the Vols - load up to stop the run, pressure the young QB and use tight coverage to not give him quick targets. Be nice to have 2nd half OSU Arch as well.

Watching a replay, I was surprised that all three of those runs on the goal line went right up the middle. I would have thought they would have gone behind Goosby and Coleman on the left side. Robertson's not known for his power, but he did the job on that last one. Also noticed that on the second and goal play, OSU had three guys coming around the left edge. They obviously thought Sark would try doing something wide, which has been his tendency. He went against his tendencies, as Rod has pushed for, and kept pounding the middle.

I disagree that OSU has the advantage when they're passing the ball. A mediocre OL (particularly the tackles), an immobile QB, and a high octane pass rush are a bad combination for a passing team. Unless OSU unleashes a very quick-release attack, I don't see them having consistent success throwing the ball. 27-17 Texas over OSU.

Mack didn’t hire Charlie Steong or Tom Herman. It’s fair to hold him accountable for the last couple of years of his tenure, but the subsequent bad hires are on the AD’s and other administers, not Mack.

A successful pass defense will be more meaningful than a successful run game given Texas State’s strengths, so a good call.

Jeff - Elko probably didn’t mention the loss to Texas because he thought his guys did play their best in the second half, we just still kicked their ass.

I think Sark on the sideline and Milwee in the booth gives the best of both approaches. Sark has the feel he gets from being close to the action and speaking directly to Arch and other players, and Milwee has the overhead view to see how everything develops.

That's what we all would prefer, but until it's fixed we need to play with the system as it is. A few high profile games like Texas-ND getting canceled would be a powerful catalyst for getting things fixed.
