bierce Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 They are going to review that and call a flagrant 1 on the UC Irvine big dude. Quote
bierce Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 No. They didn't, but should have. Deliberate shove to the neck after the whistle. But UC SD up 10 with 2:42 left, so it doesn't matter. Quote
bierce Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 So now we just need Memphis and VCU to win tomorrow, and then we wait to see what the committee says. Tennessee beating Florida might also help a little. Quote
Glass Joe Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) UC-San Diego up 13 with 1:33 left. Edited March 16 by Glass Joe Quote
bierce Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 (edited) I liked (among other things) how UC SD neutralized Leutchen. Leutchen had 5 to 7 inches on everyone UC SD had covering him, and he scored 46 and grabbed 20 rebounds in the two regular season games. Tonight he did diddly squat, especially in the second half. Seriously, UC SD is not a great team by any means, but it is more than a sum of its parts, and that is the measure of a coach. Expect Eric Olen to be somewhere else in April. bierce Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 OU beat Georgia, and Boise State and Colorado State played their way into the MWC finals, but nearly everything else has gone our way in conference tournaments so far. There are no dark horses winning P5 titles. If Memphis and VCU win tomorrow, there will be no surprise autobid winners in fiddler crab conferences. We really couldn't have asked for a better week than what we have seen. OK, we could have asked for a win over Tennessee, but that would have been a bit of a stretch with a tired team. 2 Quote

Expand Physicality is exactly the thing. Refs in the SEC allow more physicality than any other conference. Won't be that way in the national tournament. Quote
DLev Posted March 16 Posted March 16 The thing about the bubble every year is none of these teams “deserve” anything. It’s levels of mediocrity. If you’re fighting for the last few spots you haven’t done what is needed to be safely in. The national outrage is always weird. To me it’s a much bigger deal to get the top of the draw seeded correctly and not hurt a team that earned a top seed. 1 Quote

It's getting a CHANCE at upsetting a one seed, creating a lifelong memory, and making a splash. Getting a two seed vs a one seed means squat. Either way, you'll have to win games against REALLY good teams to win a championship. Quote

Expand I suppose it depends on the ref but I've watched a lot of tournament games over a lot of years and I think it will be comparable to how the SEC is called. (shrug) Quote
