I was listening to you and Gerry on State of the Program talking about the effect of shoulder injuries in high school on a college career.  Then you mentioned Taylor Bible.  I thought a really impactful shoulder surgery was Garret Gilbert.  I my opinion, he never looked as fluid in college as he did in high school.

Gerry's theory may have merit.

I think Mac gave up on Garrett Gilbert too early when the fanbase turned on him.  Also, Mac got scared and changed the whole offense at the wrong time.  Gilbert had spent a year learning West Coast and had to switch, then when he threw interceptions in a basically new offense, he was unfairly not coached up and through it. He ended up being an NFL QB in the end for a bit.

At least spell his name right. Mack. It’s not that hard.

Ok Mac. I know you’re offended, some people work and are in a hurry.  Spell police again.  Sheesh. People that have real jobs don’t have to worry about spelling too much on casual posting board, by the way.  You might learn this when you get older.

It’s not about not having time. It’s about laziness to refuse to type ONE more letter. You have time to write a paragraph explaining why you’re too lazy to spell correctly yet can’t type one more letter? That’s both sad and pathetic.

Mack had a job he wanted to keep. Had he played Gilbert all year that probably wouldn't have happened. Both Ash and Case McCoy were both clear upgrades at the time.

I agree to disagree.  You make a valid point, but a lot of QBs have thrown interceptions 1st year, see Peyton Manning, Colt McCoy or even VY.  Especially since Mack (spellcheck) changed to an entirely new offense (mistake in my opinion and I thought so at the time).  Don’t get me wrong, incredibly thankful for Mack and his service to the university, great man and leader of men, but that was an overreaction to losing to Alabama I think, and a mistake. And as far as Gilbert is concerned, I just feel like he could have been coached up into the new system and given a little more time. Mack is a good enough talker he could have sold it and kept his job.  He was also one year removed from being in the national championship, he was safe.  And Case and Ash were not better, see NFL career.

I just overlooked it.  Glad you’re perfect.  I get busy. Just seems you have a lot of time to be a jerk.  Takes nothing just to stay quiet.  You’re obviously not from around here.

He had just gone 5-7. He would have been fired after another losing season.

Yeah, you’re probably right. Thus are the woes at Texas, but it threw us into QB purgatory.

I don't think the labrum was an issue for Gilbert as much as his ability to read/process. I do wonder if Lasik could've/would've solved some of the issues he had in 2010.

It's a case-by-case basis with the shoulder specifically. For example, shoulder injury/surgery prevented Trey Hopkins and Adrian Phillips from getting drafted, but both carved out nice NFL careers.
