Had he not been arrested he would have been no later than 2nd round pick. He made the correct decision to go pro and start the clock for the 2nd contract. 1 Quote

Steamboat Willie Posted Wednesday at 10:43 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:43 PM Some team which is not adverse to risk is going to get a bargain. If that team is patient it may really payoff Quote
bierce Posted Thursday at 02:53 AM Posted Thursday at 02:53 AM (edited) Big risk here. Criminal defense attorneys almost always try to dissuade clients from filing civil litigation while the criminal process is ongoing. Filing a civil defamation suit after being arrested on a criminal charge carries real consequences in both forums. State prosecutors and the complainant's attorneys have to be loving this and trying to get him deposed ASAP. There is no 5th Amendment privilege in a civil case, so he has to face questions about damn near everything. Taking the 5th on anything will bite him in the ass in the civil case. Any answer given can later be used against him in the criminal case. I can't believe he filed this lawsuit. Except . . . he filed in federal court. Maybe he (or his legal team) hopes for a diversity fight before any depositions can be scheduled. Edited Thursday at 02:54 AM by bierce 5 Quote
harveycmd Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Hopefully he has good lawyers and he's confident about his chances. There are quite a few jacklegs out there, both as prosecutors and defense attorneys. Judges too. Take this House case. No chance the NIL third party "fair value" part withstands judicial scrutiny. There's no precedent for "fair value" in history. The market is by definition "fair value." Given it's northern California, I guess it's understandable the judge doesn't quite get that. Can't withstand the Fifth Circuit, to say nothing of the Supreme Court. Quote
harveycmd Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) At the risk of being knocked again by Matthew, reminds me of Henry Kissinger telling his staff in an October 1976 classified meeting about the death Mao that it didn't matter who won the election or what the Soviets and Chinese did, there was no way they could generate the wealth to compete with US in the long run.
