Moderators Jeff Howe Posted Thursday at 07:13 PM Moderators Posted Thursday at 07:13 PM We just wrapped up Jim Schlossngale's media availability ahead of tomorrow's opening game of a three-game home series between No. 1 Texas and Texas A&M. Here are a few key things to file away: — Jared Spencer is returning from Houston after undergoing further evaluation for the arm injury he suffered in last Thursday's win over Auburn. Spencer will speak with his family before he decides what to do next, which includes surgery. As Blake Munroe reported this morning, Ruger Riojas will start the Friday game against the Aggies, followed by Luke Harrison on Saturday. (Update: Late Thursday afternoon, the program confirmed that Spencer has a shoulder injury that will force him to miss the rest of the 2025 season.) — Jonah Williams left Tuesday's road win over Texas State with a leg injury. Schloss said Williams was feeling "pretty good" today. They won't push him in practice today to help him continue his recovery. Williams' availability for the A&M series is TBD. — Ethan Mendoza isn't ready to return to second base yet. Schloss said Mendoza will remain in the DH spot in the lineup. It'll either be Jayden Duplantier or Adrian Rodriguez manning second base until Medoza is ready to return to his full-time role. ICYMI, Blake published insider notes on the baseball team Thursday morning, including what the weekend rotation might look like without Spencer. 20 Quote

.45s Posted Thursday at 08:01 PM Posted Thursday at 08:01 PM I hope the best for Spencer. Regarding 2nd base, Duplantier is batting .048 in conference and .129 for the season. HIs career average is only .193. We need bats in the lineup and I think having Winfield in left and Adrian at 2nd would be better. As poorly as Winfield has hit, his conference and season averages are much higher than Duplantier's. On another note, Ivan Mendoza finally made it back from injured reserve and hit a homerun is his first game back for the Sod Poodles. 3 Quote

cmk4pres Posted Thursday at 10:33 PM Posted Thursday at 10:33 PM Any thoughts on Volantis or Burns moving into the rotation and other being closer? Quote

I don't think they'd do that to either of them right now. The more likely scenario is Bing/Grubbs on Sunday, with Flores taking over the Tuesday role. Quote
cmk4pres Posted Thursday at 10:36 PM Posted Thursday at 10:36 PM I don't care about Tuesday, I care about the postseason Quote

Massive loss Losing Spencer hurts, but I don't think it has to cripple the team's postseason chances. There just isn't any margin for error. 1 Quote
.45s Posted Thursday at 10:58 PM Posted Thursday at 10:58 PM Sorry to hear that for Spencer. He was having a good year and really helped Texas get where it is this year. Hopefully someone will step up- next man up. Too late to edit my earlier comment above but I typed Iven Mendoza instead of Melendez. He is back in action with the Sod Poodles. Quote
