GoHorns1 Posted Monday at 02:38 AM Posted Monday at 02:38 AM GULF SHORES, Ala. – No. 7 Texas Beach Volleyball earned its first-ever spot at the NCAA Championships as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 10 California at Gulf Place in Gulf Shores, Ala., on Friday, May 2 at 1 p.m. Central (ESPN2-TV). Should Texas win its first match, the Longhorns would advance to the quarterfinals and play either No. 2 TCU or No. 15 Georgia State on May 3. Texas and Cal have a 1-1 record this season with both matches going to five sets. The Bears took the last meeting, 3-2, on March 21 in Austin. It was one of just two losses the Longhorns had at home this season. The Longhorns are also one of two teams (Boise State) making their first appearance in the 16-team NCAA Tournament next weekend. The NCAA Tournament will begin on Friday and span through Sunday with the Championship Match scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at 9:30 a.m. Central (ESPN-TV). UT's historic season continues after winning its first Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Tournament title on Saturday. It was the Longhorns' first conference title in their first season in the league. Texas defeated No. 8 Florida State 3-0 in Saturday's championship match and earned three CCSA All-Tournament Team pair honors. Noa Sonneville and Macey Butler, Karin Zolnercikova and Maddison Parmelly and Emma Grace Robertson and Katie Hashman all claimed conference accolades, while the last two were named Pair of the Tournament. The 2024-25 season marks the first NCAA eligible season for Texas and head Coach Stein Metzger. Metzger's team boasts a 27-9 record in just its second sanctioned season as a team. 5 Quote

The Longhorns (28-9) will face former Big 12 foe and No. 2 seed TCU (29-5) in the quarters scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN2. Friday's opening round saw Texas take a 1-0 lead after a victory from the No. 3 pair of Maddison Parmellyand Karin Zolnercikova. The pair won in straight sets, 22-20, 21-9, for the 22nd time this season and improved their team-leading record to 27-6. It's the third time this season the 2s defeated the Bears and marked the pair's 15th-ranked win of the year. Parmelly now has 93 career wins. Cal grabbed a 2-1 advantage after wins on courts 5 and 1. Macey Butler and Noa Sonneville then took the Bears to three sets to even the dual score to 2-2 from court 4 with a 21-18, 19-21, 17-15 victory. The pair improved to 25-10 on the season, and the victory marked the duo's 14th-ranked win of the year and third-straight win over the Bears in 2025. The final Texas point was won on court 2 off a Katie Hashman ace. The Longhorns' duo of Hashman and Emma Grace Robertson won in three sets in a back-and-forth affair by a score of 20-22, 21-17, 17-15. The pair is now 25-12 on the year and earned its first win against the Bears this season. Saturday's match against the Horned Frogs marks the second time the teams will face off this season.TCU claimed a 4-1 win in early March. Order of Finish: 3. The Longhorns finished its season 28-10 in its first official season with postseason eligibility. The Texas No. 4 pair of Noa Sonneville and Macey Butler dropped the first match to Ana Vergara and Anhelina Khmil, 21-13, 21-12. The pair finished the season with a 25-11 record, winning 20 matches on court four and five on court 5. Karin Zolnercikova and Maddison Parmelly on court 3 dropped the next point after Allanis Vasa and Sofia Izuzquiza took the point in straight sets, 21-15, 21-16. The top pair for Texas finished with a team-leading record of 27-7 and snapped its 13-match win streak. The Horned Frogs claimed the final point on court 2 after Hailey Hamlett and Maria Gonzalez defeated Emma Grace Robertson and Katie Hashman, 21-19, 21-19. The 2s finished the season with a 25-13 record. Texas finished its historic season with a winning record, saw the top courts finish with a winning record, swept the CCSA Championship and earned CCSA honors, including Coach of the Year and six All-CCSA honors.
