Moderators Jeff Howe Posted Friday at 08:50 PM Moderators Posted Friday at 08:50 PM From UT: Former Texas Tech LHP Brenlee Gonzales has transferred to Texas to join head coach Mike White and the Longhorns. Gonzales is immediately eligible with three years of eligibility remaining. The southpaw appeared in 12 games with one start as a true freshman in 2025. A native of Aledo, Texas, she posted a 2.84 ERA in 12.1 innings of work with 12 strikeouts to go along with a 2-0 record. She held opponents to just a .245 batting average and surrendered only four extra-base hits – all doubles. She notched her first collegiate win vs. Penn State (Feb. 7) at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, shutting the door in the final 1.1 frames with two punchouts. She also possesses a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) with two assists. During her senior year at Aledo, she compiled a 0.81 ERA with 173 strikeouts. At the plate, she smacked eight doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI. She was twice named to the TGCA Class 5A All-State Team and All-DFW Team and was a two-time District 5-5A MVP. She played travel ball for the Texas Bombers Gold under Longhorn legend Cat Osterman and Scott Smith, putting in 30.1 innings of work in 17 appearances while holding a 0.46 ERA with 49 batters fanned. Gonzales is Texas’ third signee by way of the transfer portal this offseason, joining Arizona transfer Kaiah Altmeyer and Oklahoma State transfer Taylor Anderson. 16 2 1 Quote

Inspired73 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago This one is quite interesting. From the bleachers, it looks like Coach is building flexibility with his pickups. None of his pickups are super stars, but they all offer something. Gonzales may be the illusive left-handed bat (as well as shutdown reliever) 1 Quote
HookemTexas Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I wanted to see some stud pickups that were available, but it looks like Coach is picking up potential complimentary players to the star core instead of trying to replace them. It's a fine line when you have good recruits coming in. It's also the opposite of what tech is doing (they literally trying to replace current players with all americans from other teams). What Coach is doing is similar to Sark's approach to the football team, use the portal to fill gaps from recruiting, not replace the ones that decided to sign with you in the first place. 2 Quote
