drag worm Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago For a team with such elite talent we seem to lack a home run hitter or a sure 2 yarder at RB. The two starters are good but not great. Just watch other games today. 2 Quote

Too many heel throws today IMO … he has the right person (David Morris) around him and people to be more consistent as he gets more game reps He kept trying to loosen his shoulders it seemed throughout the game like he was uncomfortable. Might be a tick for nerves but seemed to change arm slot with some misses on shorter/intermediate throws that didn't have conviction. I hope he steps into the ball and drives it into his target with confidence as he progresses. Quote

Part of me wonders if this was an experiment by Sark to test his running game, OL, and RBs to see if they could smash OSU without any creativity. In that regard, it actually worked pretty well. But I’m not sure testing your offense is a legitimate reason to not play to win. Very bizarre. It’s clear Sark recognizes they could afford to lose this game, but that appears to have made him complacent. We now have MUCH less margin for error the rest of the way. Hope Sark, Arch, and the whole offense learn from this and continue to get better. Quote
Texasborn91 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Make it make sense.. we did everything we needed to win this game. Nothing but vanilla plane Jaine play calling. Will yourself to 14 points… whatever it takes. This one hurts and this one is on Sark.. what else could you have wanted for your defense?! A qb sneak from the 1? I’m sorry but that’s not gonna cut it for me. Quote
cdibbs Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago When does Sark give up the play calling duties and hire a true offensive coordinator to focus on executing a gameplan? Seems like a common occurrence in these big games getting outclassed on the coaching/preparation front. Might be better to delegate some of those responsibilities so sark can focus on being a head coach more and less an offensive coordinator. 4 Quote

John F. Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Two bizarre things that I’ll remember from this game - Arch’s big misses on easy throws and the stagnant vanilla unSark-like offense. The defense, run game, and punter were good enough to overcome one but not both. All of a sudden the Florida game is critical. 3 Quote

Arch had tons of time, he just didn’t throw receivers open. He waited until they were open then threw it but by then the windows were closed. He is going to have to process much faster. 3 Quote

But remember when asked after the ‘25 Semifinal exit he said that there is an aspect of calling plays that he loves and, as long as he's "decent at it," he will continue to do so. Unfortunately being “decent at it” doesn’t cut it against the UGAs and OSUs of the world. And it certainly doesn’t cut it when you can’t finish it off with points. It’s early but look at Florida State being up on Bama too! Norvell did the same thing this offseason 2 Quote

CHorn427 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Manning’s misses were so uncharacteristic from what we’ve seen that I’ve got to believe it’s fixable. It seemed like he was just trying to throw with one bullet speed on every throw. I do think it will get better. I think he could have benefited greatly from a tune up game. Anything you could have NOT asked for a game as a 1st time starter QB, this had it. This has to be the worst “thrown into the fire”/pressure week one game for a guy in Arch’s shoes of all time. With how bad Arch’s game was, if Arch would have come through on that last drive and got another TD and sent the game to OT, that would have literally been a Heisman moment. I know it’s a what if. But with how much of a nightmare it was (and it was), we were much closer to talking about his performance in more favorable terms than people are letting on. 1 Quote

It's a massive blowout if our defense isn't probably the best in the country. I have legit concerns about what he is seeing happen if that is true. Quote
snugsie Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Kinda feel bad for Arch, but he needs to dig in and earn his legacy and he knows it. He's done nothing so far. Talent alone will only get you so far, just ask Quinn. Quote
LonghornLegends Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I truly hope and think that arch and the offense will get better throughout the year. He definitely had the jitters and it showed especially with pocket presence and missing wide open receivers and it wasn’t even close. I’m just more pissed that we had more 1st downs, better on 3rd down, more passing yards, more rushing yards, more yards per run, and we lost the game due to 1 turnover, 35 more yards than OH State, and god forbid cannot get the ball in the endzone when you’re in the RZ. Blows my mind. 1 Quote
aggiecutter Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Arch doesn't process information quickly enough. All the great QB's have the abilility to process quickly. It'something that can't be taught. You either have it or you don't. 1 Quote
