Dread-headed Texan Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago When scouting the Florida defense everyone is so worried about are we looking at numbers or watching plays? The Florida defense that's been on display is NOT the defense we're going to see in terms of scheme or personnel. They lack the depth they had going into the season, which is why a game by game is the best approach to take. While the numbers look good there are so many players and positions to attack. Florida likes to keep their safeties back to limit explosives. Well with their best DL in street clothes and youth at both linebackers, if Sark decides he wants to get back to himself and run his counters and misdirection big plays are there for the taking. The weakest position group on the field for Florida will be linebacker. Go back and watch the Miami game, yeah I get it Miami's offensive line blah blah blah, but the success Miami had running their zone runs and GT counter had more to do with linebackers running themselves out of the play and not fitting the run well more than anything. If those linebackers play with the eye discipline they had and fitting the run like they did against Miami, they will have to drop a safety in the box. Playing press on the outside is easier to do with guaranteed help over the top, but the equation changes when you have to do it on an island. As fans have patience and be ready to be frustrated until Sark makes Florida come out of their 2 High shell, and when they do strike up the band. 2 Quote
