Interesting update on Lane

How does an “off the charts” deal even get done at LSU after the shenanigans with the governor re Kelly’s contract?  “Sure, we signed a dumb contract for an even dumber contract, but this time it will work out!”

Per Pete Thamel during the game broadcast: Arkansas search will culminate in coming days. 4 names linked: - Alex Golesh - Eric Morris - Ryan Silverfield - Kane Wommack

Golesh would likely be best ... unless Eric Morris brings his QB

Kane Wommack ... is a no for me.

None of these names have any impact. Honestly, between these guys and Petrino, Arkansas is better to stay with MotorBobby. He’ll get that defense fixed and the offense is already one of the best in the country.

I don’t think QB matters much for Morris. He churns them out. Also has built 2 programs now.

Using this thought process is how schools will get into hiring retreads like nfl does. There are lots of really good coaches out there that just need opportunity. This kind of thought process is also why Texas has stunk at hiring coaches dating back to the end of Akers

As an Arkansas grad. I remember the “splash” hires we made with Houston Nutt, Bielma, Chad Morris, and Sam Pittman. The only coach that grew the program and didn’t constantly under achieve (Houston Nuttjob) or just straight up run the program into the ground (Bielma, Morris, Pittman) was MotorBobby. As a Texas grad  Texas has made some bad hires for sure as have many programs. There’s a reason why the same guys get recycled at the top. Sure, young guys need a chance but let’s just look at how well recent young gun/hot coach hires have gone at places like FSU and Florida? The only one that’s really worked out so far is Freeman at ND and it’s not like they play a killer schedule like the SEC.
