Well, Freeman was the National Coach of the Year in 2024 Coached ND to the NC game One of the youngest head coaches to ever coach in an NC game Three things he’s got on Sark, and a lot of other coaches at the same age See how it all plays out over time, but he’s off to a great start … better than most. He can take you from bad to good and even really good. But taking you from really good to great takes a special kind of coach, the kind that I don’t believe Sark is. We’ve seen other coaches appear to hit a ceiling only to dig deep, let that desire to win fire them up, make necessary changes, and take the NC. Day comes to mind. Sark is only in year 5 and Texas is in a position to win in the coming years. This is what pisses me off about sark if he leaves. Everything is in place to win. Just make some basic changes. But to bail on a team at this stage, after you’ve previously said you like being at Texas and you’re focused on winning the national championship is cowardly. I don’t care about his reasons; they’re incompatible with Texas goals now. The problem is that the stench from sark’s fart is going to linger over this team and recruiting for the rest of this season and into the offseason. Quote

Freeman is far superior to Sark in every metric as a young HC and even now as a HC. Quote

When Freeman wins a title you can talk. Well, no I can talk now. Just as you can talk as well. We have differing opinions. It's fine. But here is the actual reality of Freeman as a head coach so far if you are discussing Freeman vs. Sark ... which I was originally responding to. Marcus Freeman has coached a team to the NC game, in year three as a head coach no less. He is one of the youngest HC's to ever appear in an NC game. He was the 2024 National Coach of the Year. In the head coach discussion of the two, only one has those accomplishments. How will their careers end as head coaches? We shall see. So much more difficult for any of these guys to win NC's with a real playoff headed to 16 teams. As assistant coaches, Sark has been the OC of three NC's. Nick Saban won five national titles at Bama with different offensive coordinators. None have won one as a head coach. Maybe Sark will be the first! The only OC under Nick Saban to go on and win an NC was Jimbo Fisher at FSU. Pete Carroll won NC's with two different OC's at USC. Neither have won NC as a head coach. Maybe Sark will be the first! Will be fun to follow. 3 Quote

Not sure if this was already covered elsewhere, but: Freeman dropping early season games is a warning flag for me - are you just filing that under a young coach learning how to better prepare? Second is a hypothetical, if Texas had played ND in semis last year, wouldn't Sark likely be the one in the NCG? Lastly and maybe most time sensitive - if Freeman is #1 on CDCs succession plan, would Freeman leave ND for any current opening (I think no for several reasons) and if so would he prefer Texas... what do you think? BONUS: And would he be waiting for tOSU? Edited 31 minutes ago by HookedOnTF Quote
