AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball has announced the addition of Gehrig Mosiello as Director of Player Development on head coach Jim Schlossnagle's Staff. "We are so excited to add Gehrig to the Longhorn baseball family," Schlossnagle said. "Gehrig is intelligent, baseball savvy, hard-working and selfless. He has grown up in college baseball and has been a part of success on every stop in his short career, including a CWS trip with TCU. I have no doubt that our players and program will benefit from Gehrig's work and knowledge on a daily basis." Mosiello, who brings experience as an assistant and head coach, spent the 2024 season as an assistant working with the hitters at Johnson University under head coach Dave Serrano. During his time at TCU, Mosiello also served as an undergraduate assistant for two seasons and helped lead the horned frogs to a Big 12 regular season championship in 2022. Mosiello also served two seasons on the collegiate summer league staff of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the Alaska Baseball League. He was an assistant coach for the league championship team in 2022 and then became the youngest manager in league history to win a championship in 2023. As a player, Mosiello spent two seasons at Walters State Community College and was part of a team that advanced to the JUCO World Series before transferring to TCU. The Aledo, Texas product was twice named all-district and all-county while at Aledo High School. Mosiello's father, Bill, is the associate head coach at TCU after leading the Ohio State baseball program for two seasons. He previously served on the Horned Frogs staff from 2014-22.

@CJ Vogel @Blake Munroe Riojas played 2 years at UTSA. He pitched in 46 games. Started 2 games but as a reliever he averaged about 2.5 innings per outing. In 2023, he was 5-0 in 20 appearances with 57 strikeouts in 46 innings and an ERA of 4.11. In 2024, he was 10-3 and 7 saves in 26 appearances with 75 strikeouts in 69 innings and an ERA of 3.25.

I don’t know where they currently stand but… I read that the roster size for next season is a 40 man limit. Of these up to 32 players can receive scholarships/partial scholarships. The 32 is up from the 27 normal limit due to the Covid season. This information wasn’t from the NCAA but I read that in a couple of places. Maybe someone can correct me if that is wrong.

He's the perfect person for that role and not just because he's done it extremely well for 13 years already. He knows everyone. More importantly, he's respected by everyone. That's not an accident. No one loves Texas more and represents what it stands for better than Drew. He knows what Texas Baseball looks like, sounds like, acts like and how it operates when it's TEXAS BASEBALL. This exciting era of college baseball has led to a major increase in the financial commitment to high-major D1 programs. Bigger staffs. More money. More interest. More player movement. It has also led to an increased need for the brightest and best to serve as extremely versatile staff members capable of adjusting on the fly to fill a multitude of roles and staying at the forefront of the rapidly changing game and industry. And it needs winners who do it the right way in all areas. That's Drew. #HookEm baseball is a better program today. To put his work ethic into perspective, he had already taken the job and was still grinding away at the Z-Plex scheduling, talking to coaches and running some of our biggest tournaments while knowing his list to-do list to move back to Austin - are we gonna be neighbors now?! - was endless.
