    Not sure who all was a culture fit but one player in the portal that would make defenses pay attention every play was Zachariah Branch. It would have been fun to watch Branch and Wingo play together. My main concern for this season was the lack of explosive playmakers on offense. I think Jack Endries will be good at TE… and maybe Livingstone will get more comfortable after the nice TD catch yesterday.

    Wingo is our only player that would scare a DC. Double him and who else do we have that is explosive? Last year we had Golden, Wingo, Bond (until his injury) and Blue. We had Worthy and Bijan year one. Worthy, Bijan and Blue year two. Worthy, Mitchell and Blue year 3.

    Exactly. Last year we lost 2 RB’s in the first couple of days of fall practice and we were extremely thin at RB the entire season. This year Goosby has an injury of some sort and our swing tackle is lost for the season so we are down to our 4th and 5th options at OT until Goosby is healthy. And our starting RT saw limited action last season as a true freshman. Like CJ said we are manufacturing depth with our top OL. In case of emergency, BREAK GLASS.

    If Goosby can’t go or is injured again vs OSU, I think you are correct that they may want/need some experience at LT against OSU…..so hopefully we can avoid having our QB lit up in game one. After OSU we have 3 non conference games then a bye week before we play Florida.

    It’s more difficult to find good rankings for HS baseball. The MLB pre draft rankings might be good but you have both college and HS players ranked that you have to sort thru. And it’s hard to know how much they take sign-ability into account when ranking HS players. Perfect Game is the easiest for me. Even the football rankings vary by service and there are much more resources available.

    The impact will most likely come from the transfers. Aiden Robbins (OF) transferred to Texas and has a chance to be really good. He won the Cape Cod summer league batting title. One pitcher to watch is true freshman Sam Cozart. He performed well the West Virginia Black Bears in the MLB Draft summer league. He started 4 games, 19 IP, 2.37 ERA, 26 strikeouts, and 2 BB.

    Freeman is not only a good hitter but he provides a ton of lineup versatility/flexibility. He can play OF, INF and C if necessary. Those types of players are hard to find. Ashton Larson may not provide the same power as Moroknek but Larson was very good as a freshman in the SEC. He was injured for a portion of this season. Grubbs, Luke Harrison and Riojas are returning. And some talented freshman pitchers will be here to compete. Aiden Robbins has been good in the Cape Cod league so far. Hitting around .300 with 4 HR, 6 doubles and a triple. Larson and Robbins were both selected for the Cape Cod All-Star game (Saturday, July 19th)

    Don’t disagree but when politicians (whichever party) inject themselves into the middle of our sport it makes it more difficult.

    Probably just me but was he recruited to the portal? Let’s see where he ends up. LSU, Ark and Tenn are looking for pitchers. Other teams are probably looking also. It’s possible it was mutual but the timing seems odd. Plus the mods were caught off guard.

    Hard to know but you are probably right. Moffett has looked good in summer league but started on Tuesday and only made it thru one inning. He threw 36 pitches (19 for strikes) and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks. His inning: Walk, stolen base Single, run scores Stolen base Single Strikeout Sac fly, run scores Walk Strikeout

    Oliver Service entered the portal in early June IIRC. I am too lazy to look it up though…lol

    They “might” look for another pitcher. They like the pitchers they just signed but we may have to sweat out the draft on some of them. Aiden Moffett has also looked good in summer league in relief. 4 appearances, 5.1 innings pitched, 1.69 ERA, allowed one hit with 10 K’s and 3 BB. Here is Moffett from a few days ago.
