  1. Even if aggy is 4-6 when we play them it will be a tough game. Probably top 3 on our schedule. That game will be like their jihad against UT in collieville.
  2. Watching the Chris simms interviews at the combine I’m surprised the guys have no knowledge of who he is (at least Murphy and Sanders). The arch manning equivalent recruit of 1999. I guess kids out of hs pretty much only know who was good in their middle school and hs years. And anything further back is ancient history. Glad we are on our way back and kids can view Texas as a cool school again. 🤘
  3. Interesting to see some of the early recruiting rankings outliers for 2025. Some of these may even out later in the year, but many will not (national rankings for 3 other major recruiting sites listed). Ty Haywood On3 11 (60, 101, 59) Michael Terry On3 14 (51, 69, 102) Smith Orogbo On3 26 (NR, NR, NR) DJ Sanders Rivals 33 (79, 147, 219) Kade Phillips On3 82 (NR, NR, NR) Adrian Wilson Rivals 54 (124, 145, 178) Michael Riles Rivals 58 (NR, 209,250) Andrew Marsh Rivals 29 (223, 43, 46) Kamauryn Morgan 247 69 (226, 199, 105) Dramodd Odoms 247 70 (96, 149, 227) Kiotti Armstrong 247 55 (204, 201, 64) Thoughts from those that have seen these guys play? Haywood is an OU lean, Sanders an Aggy lean? 2nd DE spot looks to be quite interesting in the state.. did we pump the brakes on Woodfork, who is technically ranked higher than some of the guys above, but has an injury history.
  4. Fun topic definitely. The skill talent is amazing. I do have some things that hold me back from getting too excited. Is the offensive line going to pass protect better than last year? Majors took a step forward I thought. We are waiting for the LG battle.. maybe Connor wins due to pass protection advantage over Neto? Is DJ going to figure out blocking assignments more consistently? Is Cam going to hold his own against the SEC pass rushers? Is Quinn going to get less happy feet in the pocket? Seems like he's made some progress, but too many self sacks last year. Is he going to develop a bullet pass for situations like we needed in the CFP game? Are the WRs going to block well enough? It took a while but we saw nice improvements from AD over the year. Sanders as well, but he was still not great at it. Nyblack should be a step down in blocking IMHO. Will the RBs stay healthy and avoid the fumble issues (I'm most worried about Blue given his size and his tough running approach).
  5. Texas is not an sec school until July 🤔
  6. Watching the Bert Auburn 3rd and longhorn interview, I was reminded that Ryan Sandborn was his holder this year. Who is going to be the holder this year? We had troubles with holds early in 2022 including the bama game. Would love to scare the crap out of the defense with Arch there but doubt that would happen.
  7. Love this. great to have well respected TX HS coaches on staff. Hope some day we can get Todd Dodge on the staff in some capacity after this next run at Lovejoy.
  8. Honestly I think the floor is always staying in the top 25, mostly staying in the top 15 (thus contending for the CFP every year), and when things align right making serious runs for the SEC championship and national championship.. we should have a few of these openings in the next few years (this year with an experienced QB and OL, perhaps in another 2 years with a seasoned Arch and mature 2023-2024 recruiting classes). I'd love to say going 10-2 every season is going to be the expectation, but outside of bama under saban and recently georgia with a weaker SEC east year in and year out (which will no longer be the SEC format), that is not the norm for the SEC.
  9. Would be awesome if Curtis could visit. I figured it was like an underwood type of throw out offer but if we could get him on campus who knows.
  10. With news that will griffin is returning for a spring visit the tea leaves seem to be showing that the staff is prioritizing these 2 guys for the 2026 qb spot. Thoughts on which one fits or system and which one has a higher ceiling?
  11. Agree with you on best case.. so hard to predict what kids are thinking though.. Agbo has a great niche role now, but does he have a real chance at making an NFL roster as at OL? Is Robertson a longhorn lifer type? I could see Cam Williams going NFL with a crazy season though. Nice to have Goosby, Baker, and Chatman in the pipeline.
  12. Found this video highly insightful after the discussion about recruiting rankings last week on the boards. Essentially looks at position by position, and determines how rankings predict draft status and All Pro level performance. For example, rankings do well to predict QBs getting drafted, but are very poor when determining All Pro performance. I found it interesting that LB prediction is poor both at draft and All Pro prediction. Would be interesting to see how how the breakdown looks by college productivity / accolades, as we know that many great college players will never be great NFL players (or even drafted in many cases).
  13. I get your point, but is juju that's lost a year of HS really better than lacey with full HS? the other highly ranked QB in quinn's class after reclassification was .... caleb williams.
  14. gave me bad nightmares of texas football in the last few years. early lead, struggling to stay ahead late against a great quarterback. weird turnover late. then can't score in the red zone when it counts, defense eventually capitulates after playing pretty well for most of the game. feel bad for Shanahan.
  15. I forgot about Holmes. Yeah I think he might be the fastest cb.
  16. Makes sense.. hopefully we can see some of the cbs in the room develop / maintain speed while bulking up. just a few interesting sub 4.5 40 times from dbu : jammer 4.49, ROD B!! 4.46, ross 4.44, tar brown 4.47, huff, 4.34!!!, chykie brown 4.49.
  17. Who is the fastest db? We used to have blazers at db during the peak dbu years. Would anyone run in the 4.4s now?
  18. Yes, and that makes for a fascinating look at those players. I’m just wondering if on3 or 247 or rivals does this type of self reflection. It seems like ESPN is so off sometimes that I wonder if they should even be in the composite rankings at times. Would you like to more see a top players with nfl draft potential or top players that will perform in college as that is not the same thing.
  19. I love this subject. Clearly it is impossible to predict with 100%, but there are enough clues for the recruiting services to make gradual changes. For example, there should not be 20+ WRs in the national top 100 ranking. Large frame athletic EDGEs should be higher ranked as they pan out and get drafter at higher rates. The truly hard ones are OL and DL as there frequently needs more time for development to determine which linemen are draft candidates. Then there are late growth spurts and kids that only recently transitioned to football (Mike Evans from basketball for example). What would be interesting would be consider what a person involved in the rankings really thought ranking one CB #2 in the nation and one #15, while the #15 one was drafted and #2 busted. If not for injury, trouble with the law, was it the system they were running, inadequate coaching or was it just that we underestimated a certain attribute in the lower ranked kid. Great example is the kid we pushed for late Rakestraw in 2020.. ranked the #68 CB by 247, #36 CB by ESPN but could be a 1st round draft pick this year.
  20. Yes, this is the guy I was wondering about when the rumors came out about Chip going to the NFL. Ties to Nansen as well.
  21. Saw we got a cb for Woodfork to Texas. Are we thinking 2 EDGE prospects or 3? Wondering if Morgan or Woodfork is a better complement to Jackson
  22. great chart. i'm wondering who are going to be our 2 best gunners next year... wisner, mcdonald? or is mcdonald too much in the 2 deep at safety?
  23. wasn't sure what to expect clicking this link, but he goes over pretty much every throw and what when wrong / right.. great stuff

  24. What does this mean for Newman, and is Newman even top 3-4 on the OT priority list now?
