  1. Would be awesome if Curtis could visit. I figured it was like an underwood type of throw out offer but if we could get him on campus who knows.
  2. With news that will griffin is returning for a spring visit the tea leaves seem to be showing that the staff is prioritizing these 2 guys for the 2026 qb spot. Thoughts on which one fits or system and which one has a higher ceiling?
  3. Agree with you on best case.. so hard to predict what kids are thinking though.. Agbo has a great niche role now, but does he have a real chance at making an NFL roster as at OL? Is Robertson a longhorn lifer type? I could see Cam Williams going NFL with a crazy season though. Nice to have Goosby, Baker, and Chatman in the pipeline.
  4. Found this video highly insightful after the discussion about recruiting rankings last week on the boards. Essentially looks at position by position, and determines how rankings predict draft status and All Pro level performance. For example, rankings do well to predict QBs getting drafted, but are very poor when determining All Pro performance. I found it interesting that LB prediction is poor both at draft and All Pro prediction. Would be interesting to see how how the breakdown looks by college productivity / accolades, as we know that many great college players will never be great NFL players (or even drafted in many cases).
  5. I get your point, but is juju that's lost a year of HS really better than lacey with full HS? the other highly ranked QB in quinn's class after reclassification was .... caleb williams.
  6. gave me bad nightmares of texas football in the last few years. early lead, struggling to stay ahead late against a great quarterback. weird turnover late. then can't score in the red zone when it counts, defense eventually capitulates after playing pretty well for most of the game. feel bad for Shanahan.
  7. I forgot about Holmes. Yeah I think he might be the fastest cb.
  8. Makes sense.. hopefully we can see some of the cbs in the room develop / maintain speed while bulking up. just a few interesting sub 4.5 40 times from dbu : jammer 4.49, ROD B!! 4.46, ross 4.44, tar brown 4.47, huff, 4.34!!!, chykie brown 4.49.
  9. Who is the fastest db? We used to have blazers at db during the peak dbu years. Would anyone run in the 4.4s now?
  10. Yes, and that makes for a fascinating look at those players. I’m just wondering if on3 or 247 or rivals does this type of self reflection. It seems like ESPN is so off sometimes that I wonder if they should even be in the composite rankings at times. Would you like to more see a top players with nfl draft potential or top players that will perform in college as that is not the same thing.
  11. I love this subject. Clearly it is impossible to predict with 100%, but there are enough clues for the recruiting services to make gradual changes. For example, there should not be 20+ WRs in the national top 100 ranking. Large frame athletic EDGEs should be higher ranked as they pan out and get drafter at higher rates. The truly hard ones are OL and DL as there frequently needs more time for development to determine which linemen are draft candidates. Then there are late growth spurts and kids that only recently transitioned to football (Mike Evans from basketball for example). What would be interesting would be consider what a person involved in the rankings really thought ranking one CB #2 in the nation and one #15, while the #15 one was drafted and #2 busted. If not for injury, trouble with the law, was it the system they were running, inadequate coaching or was it just that we underestimated a certain attribute in the lower ranked kid. Great example is the kid we pushed for late Rakestraw in 2020.. ranked the #68 CB by 247, #36 CB by ESPN but could be a 1st round draft pick this year.
  12. Yes, this is the guy I was wondering about when the rumors came out about Chip going to the NFL. Ties to Nansen as well.
  13. Saw we got a cb for Woodfork to Texas. Are we thinking 2 EDGE prospects or 3? Wondering if Morgan or Woodfork is a better complement to Jackson
  14. great chart. i'm wondering who are going to be our 2 best gunners next year... wisner, mcdonald? or is mcdonald too much in the 2 deep at safety?
  15. wasn't sure what to expect clicking this link, but he goes over pretty much every throw and what when wrong / right.. great stuff

  16. What does this mean for Newman, and is Newman even top 3-4 on the OT priority list now?
  17. I really think that if Worthy can show his speed and agility he can move up. Don't see too many WRs that can just get open like Worthy. Love Mitchell, but I'm not sure if he can get into the high 4.4s to get into 1st round territory. Maybe he can?
  18. also interesting that OSU could go into Texas and pull 1 or 2 CBs in the nation and Bama for another. Have to think Bama and Auburn will not be backing down on this one.
  19. was hoping this would happen so we can make brew feel like the #1 priority at CB
  20. Can someone comment on how you would rank the dbs on speed and ball tracking? Seems like we get overly excited about kids coming into the program at db and then get concerned about one of these issues. Muhammad seems like the best we have had in years. What about the 2024 guys?
  21. Thanks Gerry. I had heard the narrative but agree the national recruiting plus in state makes this less of a concern. I remember when Mack would get 7 or 8 of the top 10 but that was a different era completely. I think we just need the dominos to fall our way on a few of the in state elites every year.
  22. While our recruiting has been overall fantastic, there have been some concerns that perhaps we are not hitting on as many top 10 state prospects as we could from some people, and I was wondering is this really a problem. I just went through the last few consensus rankings and tried to figure out if we ever had a shot: 2024 commits - Simmons, Black, Filsame 2024 recruited at same or better level - Hudson (Wingo), Tatum (debatable but seems like our coaches just liked our 2 guys better) 2024 got beat - Williams, Bussey, Jonah-Ajonye 2024 never recruited - Lagway, Flowers 2023 commits - Hill, Cook, Muhammad 2023 recruited at same or better level - Arnold (Manning), Owens (Baxter) 2023 got beat - Hicks, Bowen, Simpson-Hunt, Toviano, Hale (debatable.. maybe pulled back late) 2022 commits - Campbell, Banks, Brooks 2022 recruited at same or better level - Klubnic / Weigman (debatable with Murphy, though both guys ended up ranked way higher) 2022 got beat - Stewart, Perkins, Harris, Anderson 2022 never recruited - Marshall So we're pulling in 3 top 10s a year, losing on 3-4 a year, getting a few out of state equivalents. Is that a good level going forward or are we capable of doing better every year? in 2025, moore and sanchez are committed elsewhere #1 and 2. we are probably behind on williams, brew. perhaps doing okay with fasusi, pettijohn, terry. no idea on haywood, lockett, marsh
  23. Any idea if Williams is wanting to commit early or draw this out? Seems like with our late pivot to recruiting him as a safety we are way behind OU, and this is feeling like a Devin Sanchez will we ever get enough time to make up the ground, type of recruitment.
  24. Do you think the poor defense is more a function of recruiting the wrong guys in the portal or coaching? I remember the Beard teams were tenacious on defense, and other than Weaver I don't see any of that same type of fire playing defense. It's not like Terry wouldn't have figured out the defensive tactics that Beard was using as an assistant.
