  1. While I am happy for a Lifetime Longhorn to get back to our beloved state, I do worry (at least a little) about recruiting against him. Of course I know UT vs UH recruiting is not on par.
  2. Which opponent do you think is the most important victory in 2024? Feel free to add why. I will go with OU, Georgia, A&M, Michigan
  3. Getting him on campus is huge. If we could pry him away from the West coast teams that would be a big, big win.
  4. On Coffee and Football the topic of non conference games was discussed. More specifically, should we include in our non conference schedule the Michigans and Ohio States. My opinion is quite simple…no. If we were still in the Big 12 then we would need great non conference opponents to elevate our strength of schedule. Since we will have teams like Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, etc on a yearly basis there is no need to boost our non conference games as we did when we were playing Baylor, Iowa State, TCU, etc. What do you think?
  5. How about another Mac Davis song? “Its hard to be humble when you are perfect in every way”.
  6. OTF should raffle off a road trip with Gerry all the proceeds go to the One Texas Fund or Gerry’s jerky fund. 🤘
  7. So far the Sark Way has created very positive results. Most of us realize that recruiting is fluid and there a series of ups and down any given cycle. In Sark I trust.
  8. There are stories out there suggesting that Seattle kept the news quiet till after the 30 day window closed, as a way of helping Alabama. No link for you because it is behind a paywall. However, a story about the move is listed below. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39494674/seahawks-hiring-ryan-grubb-offensive-coordinator
  9. Simms has always been mistreated or misunderstood by UT fans. I am not sure if it was all the hype surrounding him out of HS, him replacing fan favorite Major, that he did not perform up to expectations in several key games, or (probably) many Longhorn fans are just obsessive jerks. I truly hope that Sark brings him back upon the 40 Acres soon. Longhorn fans need to let go whatever anger (no matter how delusional) aimed at him and embrace him as a lifetime Longhorn.
  10. I think we all realize that all the “Arch is leaving” talk by the national media was just clickbait BS. I don’t see the Mannings in general and Arch is particular as people who would bail on a school just because he is not starting his FR year. Add to that his younger brother is enrolling at UT this Fall and I believe UT has an all aboard true Longhorn who will probably start for three years (after getting some quality mop up time this season).
  11. I love this kind of content. Keep up the great work.
  12. I may be an optimist but I believe that this will be a very good season which will result with a trip to Omaha.
  13. One thing I will miss when LHN is shut down is the coverage of softball, baseball, track, tennis, golf, etc. I realize that LHN will be folded into the SEC network but I don’t see how it will be the same amount if coverage.
  14. It is horrible that D Woodsen didn’t get in to the HOF.
  15. I have had the same problem but all I do is just scroll back to the beginning. I am not all watching the video in real time but I can live with being a few seconds or even a minute or so behind. But that is just me.
  16. Keep in mind, this is just one man’s opinion. Granted Bobby has more experience in this type of evaluation than all of us combined but he is not infallible, as he has said. However, I would tend to go with his opinion over my own observations. When it comes right down to it, this is a beauty contest. Do you like blondes or brunettes? Do you prefer size in a WR or speed? Beatles or the Rolling Stones?
  17. I agree. Just look at A&m’s #1 class a few years ago. How many of them are still there? How much did they contribute? Did they elevate the program?
  18. Excellent watch. I really enjoy watching these short vids that focus on a commitment or Sark’s press conference. Keep up the good work.
  19. As I understand it (based upon what Bobby, CJ, and others have stated) the problem with DeBose has not fully healed from his Jr year injury. I think we all believe that if DeBose is fully healthy he would be a plus contributor by at least his 2nd year on campus.
  20. I think if Parker Livingstone is fully healed he will have a very good career at UT. Maybe not All American or even All Conference but I believe he will be a plus player for the Longhorns during his time on the 40 Acres.
  21. Will OTF have its own HS ranking system for future classes like Rivals or On3?
  22. On this morning’s Coffee and Football the topic of HS players reclassifying in order to get on campus a year earlier was discussed. While Gerry seemed to generally favor it, except in the case of QBs. On the other hand, Bobby and CJ were generally opposed to the idea except for the very rare case. The argument of whether it was better for a stud receiver like R. Williams to dominate HS as opposed to getting on campus and start a college weight training program was insightful. Gerry saw it as a development year which would be beneficial. However, my question is should colleges encourage it? Take Quinn for example (I think most would agree for a QB reclassifying is a bad idea). He left HS a year early and started his three year window at college a year early. His goal was to enter the pro draft this year. So essentially a reclassified player, unless he is an absolute once in a generation stud, will have one developmental year and two years to contribute. Thoughts.
  23. I have been a fan of UT football since 1967 when I was in third grade. My first game was in 1977 vs Baylor when Earl ran for over 180 yards and a TD (6th Street was an amazing sight for a small town freshman in college). I have been to numerous football, basketball, baseball games since then and I have never been more excited about an upcoming team and season as the 2024 season.
  24. Basketball use to use a saying, “Offense sells tickets, defense wins games, and free throws win championships”. Football should be, “Offense sells tickets, defense wins games, and special teams wins championships”. At least in my opinion. I love UT’s decision to put our beat athletes, even starters, on special teams. My Freshman year at Donna (go Redskins) we lost the district title due to a punt return for a TD by Mercedes. For the next three years we spent time every day covering punt returns and kick returns. We did not give a TD to either at any level those three years. Anecdotal to be sure but we all know how a blocked kick or a return for a TD can change a game.
