  1. I agree with a lot of what was said above. A couple of other things that helped me. You will go through the 5 stages grief - just be prepared for those feelings (therapy or a book can be of benefit). I chose therapy after a close friend’s suggestion; she gave me some great tools. One of the best was when I couldn’t stop thinking about it, she told me to just get up and do anything (drink of water, snack, restroom, walk outside - anything) - to break my train of thought - it worked wonders. Journaling can also help you work through your thoughts and emotions - I don’t like journaling, but it did help during that time. It sounds crazy, but writing things down can manifest them (there is science behind it). I was devastated & blindsided also, but it turned out to be blessing!
  2. I think our brains work the same way- it is so frustrating. And as I get older, it seems to get worse!!
  3. I’m horrible with names - my mind will go blank. A perfect example, in college I introduced one of my closest friends (of about 10 yrs) to a blind date with the wrong name - she knew me & just reintroduced herself; didn’t tell me about until the next day. The worst was when I went to introduce my boyfriend (future spouse) of 3 yrs to someone and all I could remember was his last name (which is what his friends called him) - he had to introduce himself. It’s like the pressure of remembering a name makes me freeze and forget. What makes it worse is I have a very unique name that people tend to remember 😵‍💫
  4. I still call it South West Texas State University; it’s a pretty campus from what I remember visiting someone back in my college years.
  5. Today, pics from Waxahachie while I was feeding the animals.
  6. We went there a couple of years ago - the most beautiful beaches & sunsets!
  7. Respect for Indiana’s coach - looks like he used the eye test of how teams performed at the end of the season instead of just their overall record.
  8. I love that I can check in daily and know that I’m up to date on everything Longhorns sports. I especially appreciate the mostly cordial interactions by members and the respectful way the moderators ensure threads don’t get totally derailed. OTF has the best staff out there - the info & knowledge I’ve learned from the staff and posters has made going/watching games that much more fun. I really appreciate the more in depth analysis of tendencies & specific plays - having obviously never played football, I’ve learned a lot reading and listening to y’all - thank you!!!
  9. Our Akbash livestock guardian dog, Ellie May
  10. Prayers for Jordan and the Shipley family!! They have contributed so much to the Longhorn over the years. 🙏
  11. I’m in Waxahachie too. It’s growing too big too fast. We live outside the city limits, towards Maypearl, off FM1446.
  12. Always appreciate your perspective. Glad to hear you will be on here too!!
  13. We were given tickets the week of the game. They were incredible seats for what transpired at the end of the game - sitting 20/30 yard line 10 rows up from the corner where VY ran it in - he was right in front of us when the confetti blew around him. We sat amongst mostly USC fans - who were really nice & friendly. Best game I’ve ever attended!!
  14. Thank you for the thoughtful response! When things are meant to be, they have a way of falling into place perfectly. Sounds like you raised your daughter well - you must be so proud of her. Best wishes to her and her fiancée. Totally agree on the Longhorns - they are my favorite distraction. If they are unsuccessful, there is always next year or next sport 🤘
  15. Interesting perspective - sounds about right with the comparison of the two fan bases. I totally agree about the RRR being the best game - it’s the one game each season we always go to - there is just nothing like it!!
  16. It feels like he is on mission and focused on winning a championship - I’m all for it
  17. From a woman’s perspective, who’s divorced from my college sweetheart, and now very happily married, pick wisely & don’t settle. In my humble opinion, men are pretty easy to please, while we can be much more complicated & manipulative (and sometimes downright mean). Run from anyone trying to change you, keep you away from your friends, or is overly demanding. Find a woman who is low maintenance, is a giver not a taker, and one who is kind-hearted (& longhorn fan🤘).
  18. For the TX OU game, the OU seats are always cheaper than the Texas seats, even when they are favored. Our fans are willing to pay more & we have always traveled well 🤘
  19. Thank you for the update. What an amazing story of resilience & perseverance. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year; it feels like only a few months ago. Prayers that things continue to improve!
  20. That is awesome - thank you for sharing! He was so much fun to watch; you knew we always had a chance as long as he was leading the team. Every time I watch when someone posts the end of the game - it makes me giddy 😊 Hook ‘em
  21. My favorite moment also - it was an amazing experience - we were on the 30 yd line right in front of where Young ran it in, about 10 rows up. And the USC fans around us were great too.
  22. So glad we are not in the Big XII anymore - I truly appreciate that the SEC calls out bad officiating & does something about it.
  23. I miscalculated. The $250 is what the buyer pays (I was thinking it was my total but didn’t account for fees). So I would sell them for $450 for both tickets - that gives us both a bargain from using Seat Geek.
  24. We could have gotten better seats on the West side but we sat here last year and we were in the shade shortly after the game started. With expected temps in the 90s I prefer shade!
  25. That would help!! Checked on Seat Geek - they are recommending pricing at $250 so I’ll offer here for $250 (they are selling for $280+ in the same section)
