  1. I don’t have any signed jerseys or cards, but I finally found a 1963 National Championship booklet that I got signed by Coach Royal and Duke Carlisle. This was from the 1964 Athens, Texas football banquet where they honored Duke and Coach Royal was the guest speaker. Most of my stuff from the 60’s and 70’s burned in my parents house in the late 70’s, but somehow this survived. The Longhorn’s 1st National Championship and I also attended the Cotton Bowl.
  2. Those 2 runs were unearned 🤘🏻. Nice outing by Brenlee .
  3. Who ever this guy with the beard is, doesn’t know a thing about what he’s talking about. He said that Gilbert was a fullback and looked like one. Wondered why he only played 3 years. In those days, there were freshman teams. You didn’t get to play varsity until your sophomore year. Gilbert was lean and fast, not the fullback he mentioned. I couldn’t even listen to the rest of what he said because he was so wrong in his first statements.
  4. One of my earlier Longhorn Heroes. I was able to see him play multiple games during his career. Got to meet him at an East Texas Longhorn event at the Petroleum Club in Tyler. 🤘🏻
  5. You have to earn wearing #4. Lockett hasn’t shown that yet. 🤘🏻
  6. Midlothian, Texas by way of Malakoff, Texas. BBA ‘75 🤘🏻
  7. It’s in Hillsboro at the split of 35.
  8. Thanks for sharing. That was a great article. I can’t wait for this coming season. Hook’em 🤘🏻
  9. I met Buddy Iles in 1970 and relived that awful game. 🤘🏻
  10. My first Texas jersey was #10 for James Saxton.
  11. Duke Carlisle is where the list starts. Quarterback of the 1963 National Championship. Also intercepted a pass in the end zone against Baylor to secure the victory. Hook’em Duke.
  12. Absolutely loved watching him cover kicks! 🤘🏻
