  1. Looks like that final tally in the challenge will be 14-2. Auburn went down to Duke, but Mississippi State beat the snot out of Pitt, Alabama clubbed UNC, Vandy handled Va Tech, and Florida nuked Virginia. Pomeroy will have SEC +3 over the Big 12 tomorrow. In fact, Big 12 is now trailing the Big Ten since KU lost bigly to Creighton.
  2. I thought Pope played pretty well, but more turnovers than assists and the big missed ft at the end. Team win. Nobody is the hero. And that is the way it should be with this team. If they play as a unit and move the ball, they can be great, like they were in that stretch with back to back open threes or the stretch with a lot of motion to get Shedrick the ball twice in the lane, but when they devolve to Johnson, Mark, or Kaluma going one on five, then they are meh on offense and will rely on defense to win it for them. But this was a good win. It wasn't a great win, but any road win against a P5 team in the Pomeroy top 75 is a good win. It might be a q1 win by season's end, so let's not complain about it.
  3. Weaver with the exclamation point. We win by 4 in a game Pomeroy projected us to win by 1. Not a huge victory, but a road win against a P5 team that is pretty good. No Vinson. I don't know if I like seeing that. Onyema has some uses, but he is very limited on offense. Codie got a few minutes but did not show up in the stat line. Way too much one on five stuff from Kaluma, Mark, and Johnson, but a) Kaluma owned the boards, b) Mark made some really good plays on defense, and c) Johnson hit some big shots, so I guess we'll just have to suffer through their bouts of tunnel vision.
  4. 89% ft shooter Pope missed the front end.
  5. Ball off Shedrick, but elbow to the face was inadvertent.
  6. Pretty good d on that possession, but it is a pity we couldn't get the rebound. We controlled the boards most of the second half.
  7. Weaver once again making stuff happen. Dude is a baller. If he could only hit his ft this year.
  8. What is the point of reviewing goal-tending on a made basket? A 0.4 difference on the clock? We wait 5 minutes for that?
  9. I can't believe that was an offensive foul on Pope.
  10. Serious question here--if we win this, do we have a player of the game? I think not. Johnson is our leading scorer, but he had 0 assists and 3 turnovers and didn't shoot a high percentage. Kaluma is our leading rebounder, but he made a bunch of bad plays on offense. Shedrick was kind of the invisible man again. Every now and then he popped up and did something, but his effect on the game as a whole was minimal. Team win, IF we win. No standout performances.
  11. Johnson with stupid turnover and goaltend.
  12. Everybody has whiny-ass fans. Ever heard the crowd at a game in Little Manhattan?
  13. But he can hit a three in transition, so we get the good with the not so good.
  14. Johnson dribbles off his own legs while doing nothing productive.
  15. Kaluma's move for a weird reverse layup was almost Paul Silas-esque. and that's bad.
  16. Weaver hit 70+% last year. 50% so far this year.
  17. TWo straight drives by Weaver into trouble. But he has a chance to hit ft now thanks to the feed from Johnson.
  18. So what? There are only 11 minutes left in the game. Keep him on the floor if he's doing good things. Let him sit a bit if he's not.
  19. Dear Arthur Kaluma, See what good things happen when the man bringing ball up on a break passes it to the driving wing? Yeah, he gets a layup. Remember that. Love, Longhorn Nation.
  20. Pope channeled Hunter with that inbounds pass.
  21. Johnson showing visible frustration. Here's hoping Terry talked some sense into him.
  22. Worst break in the history of basketball with Kaluma lumbering down the lane and not giving it up.
  23. Nice steal and breakaway dunk by mark.
  24. Inside out leads to Shedrick kicking out to Pope for a three. Team ball.
  25. Horrible shot by Johnson. Bill Walton-esque HOORRRRIBBLLE
