I have no problem with that considering that Lauenstein just became available and Carlson was added to give us 2 high quality setter instead of one. Maybe Carlson played a lot tonight because it was against her old team. Maybe it was because we are finally seeing the end game of two setters rotating in for each other every set. We might get an answer to that question against Hawaii. We just won a game on the road against a top 20 team in straight sets. We might not three-peat, but I'm not worried at all about this team or the state of the program.

Rallied from down 22-19 to win third set 26-24. Skinner took over with a string of kills down the stretch.

Second set a lot dicier after a Baylor challenge of a touch ruling on Baylor upheld, and Baylor went on a 3-0 tun to take a late 1 point lead. 25-23 Texas with a big drop in hitting percentage. Rutherford has been nails all match so far, and Singletary has been a blocking machine.

First set all Texas with Rutherford and Kahahawai combining for 7 kills in 9 swings. Swindle started, but she and Carlson have split time evenly in the first set. Set finished 25-17 with Texas hitting .500.

Whether you call it resignation or call it panicking, the negative vibe on this thread is silly We started last year 5-3, including getting swept by Stanford in Austin. We started this year playing around with a different setter. And yeah, Stanford in #2 in the country and playing at home.

Texas State did nothing on offense after that great fourth down conversion at the end of the third quarter.

We lost to an unranked team in our opener and to two OOC teams in Austin to start last year 5-3. I'm not worried about this team. I always thought we needed either to go back to Swindle or to give Carlson several matches to get the timing right with the hitters, and I always favored the former.

And let's not forget then spinning out of the tackle without a knee hitting the ground to gain another 7-8 yards.

I was tied up yesterday and couldn't report on this until watching a rerun today, but Texas swept Houston 25-19, 25-18, 25-20. Swindle set the whole match. Her first 7 sets resulted in 7 Texas kills. Ames, Skinner, Rutherford, Rutherford again, Singletary, Wenaas from the back row, Skinner. Houston isn't that good this year, but that was awesome to watch. Texas faltered a bit about 1/3 of the way into the first set, giving up 4 straight points, the last two on a hitting error by Ames (off antenna on the slide) and getting out of alignment on return of serve (Ames moved too quickly and crossed Wenaas before Houston player made contact with the serve. Swindle then broke the string with a dump. Texas won the last 5 points of the second set to break open a tight set. Texas hit .370, led by Rutherford hitting .579 (12 kills, 1 error, 19 swings). Will be interesting to see whether Swindle starts against Stanford Sunday.

Weigman has one career game in which he has thrown for 200+ yards against a P5 opponent. Agroids haven't won a road game since October 16, 2021.

That shows a lot of confidence in their own FPI.

That was a disaster. Texas won the first two sets, but lost the match. Teams were tied 15 all in the fourth set, but Miami outscored us 25-14 the rest of the way. Miami is undefeated so far this year, having beaten IU 3-1 last night, but this match was just awful. Texas hit just .176 for the match and just .034 over the last two sets. Swindle hit 1.000 by getting her one dump to fall in, but no other Texas player hit better than .300 (Ames 6 kills, 3 errors in 10 swings). Texas either hit into blockers or hit long the last set and a half. Skinner finished hitting just .103 (20 kills, 14 errors in 58 swings) and Wenaas .152. Meanwhile, Texas had 0 blocks over the last two sets. Once again, Carlson was the primary setter early in the match, and we won two of the three sets in which she was the primary setter. Swindle was used quite a bit as the setter in the fourth set. Carlson was the setter in the fifth set. Elliott knows the game and his players 1000 times better than I do, but I just don't get why he wanted to change setters after we won the natty with Swindle as a freshman.

Notre Dame is always overrated. It just threw away its cakewalk into the playoffs. If it loses even one more game now, it should be eliminated from consideration.

This is just a casual observation, but I think we're better than they are.

There may be the desire to run an offense that rotates setters in the back row so we can have three strong attackers on the front row nearly all the time. When Lauenstein starts playing, it's hard to see how we have room for Skinner, Wenaas, Rutherford, Singletary, Ames, and Lauenstein if we have setters who rotate onto the front line.
