  1. A younger friend of mine is planning a trip to Austin on a game day and then a couple days in Hill country around Fredericksburg. He wants to travel to Austin on a Thursday, and experience the game day environment and watch the game somewhere nearby with Longhorn fans in a nearby club or restaurant, maybe the Ohio State weekend. He doesn’t want to shell out what it takes for a ticket. For those in the know, any suggestions appreciated that I can pass on to him? He and his wife are in their 30’s, live out of state. He is a huge Texas fan. I think they plan 3 days in Austin then maybe a drive out to the hill country maybe to the Fredericksburg area for a couple days.
  2. Agree fully. We are all accountable for what we produce especially when fully resourced and enabled to do our job.
  3. Welcome to the best Texas site. These are the best mods in the business, and they also do a good job of creating good board culture among Longhorn friends.
  4. I commend my fellow board mates for the spirited discussion and back and forth. My take home question is: can this mixture of highly recruited, large humans we have invested serious time recruiting, developing and money be brought together into a cohesive, effective unit by our coaching staff? All excuses aside, the buck starts and stops with our offensive line coach. He has a lot of skins on the wall, some good and some bad. I think we will learn a lot about his capabilities this season because there are no excuses not to succeed now with the level of depth and available pieces he has on the board.
  5. I had the misfortune of playing across the line from him and getting double teamed the entire game by him. He was the offensive left guard and another guy (Jennings I think who later went to A&M) who was bigger than him at tackle. Was a long night. I did not contribute to his brain disorder I can assure you as I spent the evening crashing into the gap and falling down to plug the hole so as not to end up 10 yards down field.
  6. Tier 1a - Georgia 1b- Texas Tier 2 - Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Alabama (OU made playoff last year w no offense, A&M very talented team with good coach) Tier 3 -Tennessee Florida, Missouri Tier 4 - South Carolina, Auburn Tier 5 - Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Arkansas
  7. He was All State on offense and defense in High School in Plano back when there was one school there.
  8. What I think we are hearing is that this line is ready to be accountable and accept responsibility for themselves. I love that he blamed himself and his fellow lineman for not being physical enough. He didn’t pass the buck. Love this. That’s leadership.
  9. Can we expect this team to significantly lower the penalties and what has the staff done to correct this part of the game?
  10. Comforting to see that our 3 are at least meeting expectations with 2 exceeding expectations. Speaks to the development going on at Texas.
  11. These guys are going to take a lot of pressure off of Arch. Can not wait to see what this unit accomplishes this season.
  12. That team was so stacked. Lt's do a head-to-head comparison after the season.
  13. I think the Sooners will be better this year. They made the playoff last year with a horrible offense and will be improved on that side of the ball this year imo.
  14. Dang. Nice synopsis @Gerry Hamilton. Gerry, do you get to watch practices at all this time of year?
  15. In the age of nil, I would bet he comes back for a bigger payday now and down the road by increasing his draft stock. He is one big year away from changing his whole trajectory..
  16. The "sissy" flopping is out of control especially on some of the South American teams. Wish they would yellow flag some of that stuff, especially when a guy is "dying" and then all of a sudden gets up with no aftereffects.
  17. Happy 250th. Thankful to God for His favor. Anyone seen Young Washington? Great movie.
  18. Love when he puts that helmet on! Another version of "Boom"!
