  1. Longhorn fans treating their colleagues with respect. I'm in.
  2. We all know JT is going to be a productive pro but his combine numbers were surprising to say the least. I would have skipped the combine rather than put up those kind of numbers. The bench number argues that he never worked in college on improving his strength which doesn't reflect well for a power position like tight end. The .40 time is also shocking for what was considered an elite athlete coming out of high school, again raising doubts about one's work ethic. Really a head shaker for me especially when his teammates all posted numbers demonstrating the opposite approach. Im with horns96 on wondering if there is a background story.
  3. PK is a solid coach. Look no further than what he did at Wash and here. I agree with you though about our porous secondary. This season, year four, will tell us a lot I think because we have the horses now.
  4. You may well be right but I would be willing to gamble on him considering our other options. If we can find a better sure thing then so be it.
  5. Count me in as one who wants Tyrese back despite his lack of consistency being a big reason this year's team failed to reach higher. I just have to believe that he is eventually going to put it all together whether this requires use of a sports psychologist to get his head straight or whatever it is that has kept him back. As for Mitchell, he should be able to carve out a more balanced offensive role with more work on his shooting and with the addition of our incoming super freshmen guard's ability to penetrate opposing defenses.
  6. Been following you guys around for years because you are simply the best. Congrats on the new site going premium.
  7. Huge series win and confidence booster. This team proved to itself that they can potentially win the whole thing if they continue to improve.
  8. Michael Taaffe as the leader of the secondary. Who would have thought? All this guy does is make plays. Love his character and heart. Reminds me of a guy from yesteryear out of Tennessee named Bill Bates who played for the Dallas Cowboys for 15 years. Same mold.
  9. Gerry first to the punch while other sites sleep. Good stuff.
  10. Ricky lost me at “I’m an Astrologer”.
  11. If this group needed a wake up call, they had it screamed at them this past week. Need to improve in every phase of the game or they will find themselves bottom half of the conference. There is plenty of talent though to right the ship and there is precedent for this on previous Pierce-coached teams. The light must turn on for players like Witt and others who have ceilings that have not been realized. It can happen.
  12. Agreed and I see now what you were alluding to on the earlier question about Witt. He has some work to do but I think he will get there.
  13. Yes, very shaky. But it’s early and hopefully we get it together. San Diego was a solid team in all three phases so they challenged us more than I expected. Witt will get better, too talented not to but he clearly is not back yet. Time will tell.
  14. Gerry, you think Tre Johnson will play here? Hope he does. He is a sure thing to be a star straight out of the blocks as a freshman. Been watching him since his early HS days at LHHS and he is as good as they come.
  15. Tanner Witt is still not 100%? He should be well healed from his surgery (season before last) and hitting his stride now. This kid's potential is very high so I am surprised that he is viewed as questionable for one of our weekend starting spots. What am I missing? I expect him to dominate as the season progresses.
  16. This team has just not come together with any consistency at all which is why I think we are still a bubble team. Are we on the verge of becoming a good team? We need Disu and Abmas to continue to lead the team and need to get some production from our other guard position which has been woeful at times and Mitchell to attack the basket. I like the insertion of Weaver into the line up and along with Mitchell we are seeing more effort of late which is good. Bottom line is we need every guy to pick it up and carry his weight. If they do that we can be a good team. The next couple of games will tell the story imo.
  17. True. You are right but I wonder had he gone that route would his pro potential been much higher as I see him as a WR tweener at the pro level. He may prove me wrong though if he can catch on somewhere and catch fire as a slot.
  18. I think Jordan Whittington's ranking coming out of high school was spot on and agree his state championship was the best individual game I have ever seen by a player (MVP on offense and defense). Your point about choosing the wrong position is spot on as he likely would be elite as a safety with his attributes but was a "tweener" on the offensive side of the ball. He shined straight out of the blocks his freshmen year in the little time he played before the injury bug robbed him dearly and then ultimately he became the consummate warrior and did all the dirty work to help the offense prosper . I will not be surprised if he makes it on an NFL roster as a jack of all trades/utility and special teams player.
  19. Texas vs USC in the Rose Bowl 1969 win over Arkansas Win at the Horse Shoe vs Ohio State Win vs Nebraska in first Big 12 season Rose Bowl win vs Michigan , Win at Alabama 2023
  20. I have followed the Horns since the 60's and this is a really difficult question to answer. Always gravitated more to the tough guys on defense like Roosevelt Leaks , Steve McMichael, Brad Shearer and of course, Tommy Nobis. Hard not to pick the Tyler Rose, Vince or Ricky too. But if I had to pick one guy I love I guess it would be Colt McCoy due to his character and consistent greatness for a guy few thought would amount to one of the greats. Also still feel gut-punched over that freak injury that denied him the Championship. (That game and the fumbled punt against Georgia are the two games that hurt the most).
  21. This is how I see it as well. His speed, quickness and also special teams versatility alone will ensure early success. Whether he is able to improve his strength and tracking ability will determine his long term success.
  22. Sark thus far is masterfully balancing the new normal of the portal and high school recruiting and is orchestrating the necessary resources to do so.
