Kaydon Finley Disrespects Texas before Selecting Notre Dame
Bevo92 replied to Bevo92's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Watching different announcement ceremonies each year, it’s impressive to see kids (regardless of whether they choose Texas or another school) who show a lot of class and character, who are transparent and honest throughout the process then show humility, respect and gratitude (at the time of their decision announcement) for each of the schools who rolled out the red carpet for them over a multi-year process. The ‘hat fake’ is tired at this point, imho. -
Kaydon Finley Disrespects Texas before Selecting Notre Dame
Bevo92 replied to Bevo92's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Fully appreciate it’s one of the best days of his life. There’s a right way and wrong way to do things in the moment, imo. Ojo was a different level of classless with all the deception beforehand combined with the way he did his announcement. I’m not suggesting Finley comes close to Ojo, just think he could be better, especially given how great of a legacy his dad built at UT. -
https://apple.news/ABdDMryNCR2i1lZQXwkyZ-A Especially with a legacy, it’s beyond mind boggling to see the classless disrespect for his dad’s Alma mater, who recruited him hard, why would Kaydon throw the Texas hat on the ground? For the hundreds of hours of time and all the money invested by schools in their recruitment, this crap reflects low character imho.

I heard Bobby reference the "Top 50 from PFF" this morning with plans to discuss in more detail on upcoming Coffee and Football. Love how much depth and elite playmaking the Horns have on both sides of the ball.

HOOK ‘EM | 5-Star OT John Turntine III Commits to Texas
Bevo92 replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
That's awesome!!! One of the THE MOST IMPORTANT COMMITS in this class. The future at OT for the Horns. Think about having Brooks on one side and Turntine on the other in 2 seasons. Hook em!!! 🧡🤘🐂 -
https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-pff50-ranking-50-best-players-2025 Great to see so many Horns getting pre-season recognition. Hill and Simmons both #1 at their position. Taaffe at #26 is a story writing itself this season as we begin the run to a natty then Manny Muhammed (46) and Arch Manning (50) round off the list, giving Texas the most players (5) on this season’s list (tied with Bama). Interesting to see Ohio State with top player on both sides of the ball followed by a big cliff and no other players making the list. A&M had 2 players make the Top 50, Georgia only had 1 and OU still sux with ZERO. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🏼🐂

Agree. Surprising how much love Tennessee getting. They have no QB.

Surprised South Carolina at #10. Given how tough the top end of our schedule is with Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, A&M and OU, it’s not a bad thing to have 4 SEC games against the ‘bottom 4’. Btw, I’d put the bottom 8 of the SEC against #5 to #13 of the Big 10 or #3 to #11 of the ACC or Big12 and SEC would likely have a better record. Lots of easy wins in the other 3 conferences. There are no easy wins in SEC.

Reading a lot into what Gerry and CJ have been saying over the past year……Turntine is who we absolutely have to get tomorrow. He’s the next Kelvin Banks at left OT. Professional, strong culture fit, great frame, excellent projection at left OT for the next 3-4 yrs. Future first rounder if he takes care of business and stays healthy. The ultimate two OTs. would be Turntine and Lee if Texas had their way. Is that fair to say? Ojo is a great player that Texas wants but sounds like he may be more focused on NiL in the short-term versus development, winning and long-term growth. Maybe I’m over reading into things but it sounds like OTF expects Turntine to commit to the Horns and unsure what Ojo will do.

OTF Premium Update on Jamarion Carlton (9:30 a.m.)
Bevo92 replied to CJ Vogel's topic in On Texas Football Forum
If we lose Carlton to Baylor, the universe has definitely gone upside down. 🙃 😳🤪 -
OTF Premium 4-star++ Jalen Lott update (3:05 CST)
Bevo92 replied to Gerry Hamilton's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Would love to have Lott in this class. Appreciate the update. Mom and Dad both went to UT and it’s time for Jalen to continue the legacy!! Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼 -
This season cannot get here quick enough. By early August, the love and hate for all things Texas (and Arch) will be at another level. Will be interesting to see where Texas and Ohio State both land in first AP and Coach’s poll, going into week 1. I’m predicting Texas #1 (based on our overall defense and hype for Arch on offense) with Ohio State at #2 to start the season. Regardless of rankings, Ohio State should still be favored around the same 3 points as they are currently.

Listening to Ramonce Taylor this morning in Coffee & Football got me fired up to go back and watch highlights from that great game from 20 yrs ago against #4 Ohio State. Can’t wait for 2025 season to kick off and avenge loss that ended last season. Couple things jumped out after rewatching highlights: 1) This game could have easily gone either way. Momentum swung from Texas in Q1 to Ohio State in Q2 and Q3 back to Texas in Q4 2) We all remember Vince’s heroics in big moments but he was human as well and made some really bad decisions in Q2 and Q3 of this game that led to 2 interceptions, giving the Buckeyes the momentum. Overall, Vince was Superman though as the leading rusher (especially in Q1) and 22 of 29 passing for 2 TDs and 270 yards. Jamal Charles didn’t do much. 3) Man our defense (especially our secondary) was all-world back in the day. 4) I remember when watching the game real-time 20 yrs ago and again now on re-watch, thinking Jim Tressel helped the Horns with the way he kept rotating Justin Zwick with Troy Smith at QB, despite the team playing much better when Smith was leading the offense. 5) Ramonce Taylor saved a massive play when he nearly got tackled twice for safety and instead ran it out for 40 yard gain. 6) Billy Pittman played like a man possessed for 130 yards receiving and a TD. 7) Even with Mack during his best season, we struggled to score TD on 4th down at the 1-yard line with clock winding down and Henry Melton got stuffed. Turnover on downs. 8. Defense came up big with tackle for safety to end game. 25-22. Can’t wait for next 60 days to fly by and let’s get this game going. Time for the Arch Era to start. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🏼🐂

Loved the interview with Raja Bell on Coffee & Football yesterday. It was a good reminder for me that all recruits (and recruiting decisions) are not the same. Not even close, even in today’s world of NIL and big $$. While some players may be driven primarily by financials, and view their decision more as a business transaction, what matters most to other players truly is culture, relationships, resources, development, scheme, winning at the highest level and getting onto the field to prove they can contribute It was awesome to hear Raja talk yesterday about the relationships Dia began building with Sark, AJ and the staff going back to his first visit in Austin at the age of 13. The authentic way Dia felt the staff were all aligned and showed high character way before Dia was the player he is today, the thoughtful and innovative scheme and how Dia’s strengths fit Sark’s design as the visits progressed, Sark’s track record helping other QBs maximize their gifts, the Q&A with other players over the past couple years and how Raja and Dia’s mom felt like there was a consistency in what they heard from those other players re: resources provided to the players and what things are like when life isn’t all perfect. Because that’s reality. I especially enjoyed hearing Raja describe Sark’s patient and thoughtful approach throughout the process. While other coaches want to rush to the alter for a commitment, telling the player whatever it takes, Sark is more focused on building real relationships and telling players the truth, what they need to hear and determining if it’s a strong fit on both sides. Great job Gerry getting Raja Bell on the show. There was a strong resemblance to the family values we’ve witnessed from the Manning family interviews over the past couple years with the Bell family values. That came across by Raja yesterday. Work hard to be your best, stay grounded and humble, surround yourself with a strong inner circle, do the right thing. You could hear Dia’s character and work ethic shine as Raja talked about how Dia approached his rehab this past season and how he’s even stronger now than before. It really connects to Sark’s saying “Who you are some of the time is who you are all the time”. keep up the great work @Blake Munroe, @Gerry Hamilton and @Bobby Burton!! Hook em! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
