  1. My bonus prediction is that Texas v Ohio State rematch happens again in semifinals this year as both teams ascend during back half of season. Texas beats Ohio State in semifinals rematch this year, double OT, 38-35. Texas goes on to play Penn State for national championship. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼
  2. Both teams have young unproven OLs and QBs. Ohio State is stronger at WR. Push at TE. Texas has edge at RB. Downs may be a great single player in the secondary but Texas has the superior overall defense. All that said, i keep coming back to the most obvious difference between the two teams is coaching staff continuity. Ohio State has highly unproven new play caller (and scheme designer), new OL coach, new def coordinator and several other new coaches on defense. With the exception of our secondary and RB coach (plus addition of new coach for the DEs) we have a MASSIVE advantage rage in coaching continuity. While our players should play loose and fast, knowing the system inside and out, Ohio State may take 4-6 games into the season before players and coaches feel confident in system. Predicting Texas goes down early then makes adjustments and wins by 10 points 34-24, despite the Buckeyes home field advantage. Coaching continuity by OC and DC are the biggest reasons for game 1 win. what do others think / predict. Ready to start talking in more specifics about the game with only 15 days to go!!! Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼
  3. https://www.reuters.com/sports/rule-changes-approved-2025-college-football-season-2025-08-13/ Most of these, I like. Good tweaks to rules. Will be interesting to see actual enforcement and interpretation of late game theatrics wity players faking injuries to stop click. One rule that surprised me if I read it correctly, I didn’t realize the coach to player helmet communications weren’t in full use during the playoffs last season. Maybe there’s some nuance to that rule change that needs clarity. Ready for Aug 30 to get here. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  4. https://apple.news/Azsq1HKHERIuTZuIfL9_Low Seen lots of speculation over past 48 hours. Is there any meat on this bone? Next couple weeks could be telling? If it’s at all suspicious, OU may suspend to avoid retroactive penalties against the team later. if OU doesn’t have Mateer this season due to his own stupidity, BV may as well get his home on the market cuz OU will be on their way to 3 out of season’s below .500.
  5. Loving the fact that neither QB has separated himself. Could we have a repeat of 2005 Ohio State v Texas when Jim Tressel platooned his top 2 QBs back and forth all game. They had the elder statesman Justin Zwick and the young but talented Troy Smith (who won the Heisman a year later after undefeated regular season). I remember watching the game, grateful every time Tressel chose to put Zwick in the game. Safe bet but far less talented, less likely to explode on us. Ohio State lost their momentum in the 4th qtr as a result of Vince and team stepping up and lack of rhythm by their QB. Could Ryan Day end up pulling a Tressel and try playing both QB? I think it’s a mistake to play 2 QBs. I’m sure he’ll pick single starter but would be dejavu if he chose to play both.
  6. Five clear takeaways: 1) Damn, Tre Wisner showed up bigtime. 33 for 186 yards plus 21 yards in the air. Lots of runs where he was barreling downhill, not expected given his size. 2) Quinn’s pick six when we should have scored from redzone combined with strip fumble in redzone made this game way closer than it should have been on scoreboard. 3) Special Teams Disaster (missed FG, blocked punt, etc). This seems to be the area we may improve the most and that could equal + 1.5 games. 4) Isaiah Bond was an absolute liability the entire second half of season but his performance against ATM was abysmal. He just gave up on repeated plays. What a waist. Yes, Golden took his game to next level as regular season wrapped up then into playoffs but it’s exciting to think how much our overall starting Top4 will be this year. 5) On 4th and goal from 1yd line up by 10 points with mins left in game, that rush around the end by Ethan Burke for 3yd loss was AWESOME. Looking forward to more of that this season. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  7. What am I missing with all the “hope he gets fully healed before our game”???? I loved that Lagway was out for last years game and we blew them out at home. Wasn’t even close. We have a tough, really tough schedule. I don’t wish for anyone to be injured but I certainly wouldn’t mind if Lagway missed the game against the Horns again. Playing at the swamp will be intense and I’d love to see another.blowout. OSU, OU, Georgia, A&M will all be tough games….im ok if one or two extra tailwinds blow our way with lopsided wins. hook em!! 🐂🤘🏼🧡
  8. Agree. Bizarre post: Think this is code for… other teams weren’t pursuing him hard either and this is his way of trying to generate some buzz on others’ radar as a Texas ‘commit’ who’s decided to ‘soft decommit’…..Is that a thing if Sark never accepted your commitment? lol. 😳😂
  9. Hope Quinn kills it at Miami. He was all class (despite getting hate at times and hearing how the fans preferred QB2) and killed himself to be on the field for the Horns, bringing us from 5-7 (year before he arrived) and got us right on the edge of playing in the national championship two consecutive years. Sark rightfully feels indebted to Quinn and these idiots who bash him are clueless. He wasnt perfect (no QB is) but Quinn put us on the map of Top 10 teams the past 2 years and he deserves a ton of respect / appreciation from Longhorn Nation imho. Hook em!! 🤘🏼🐂🧡

  11. Offense - Mosley…..think he’s gonna quickly become top2 WR with Wingo Defense - Watson is gonna grow into becoming a top DL in SEC over next 2 seasons
  12. Now that NIL more formally approved (ie money stays above the table with legit deals), this would seem to be a massive win for Texas. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼
  13. Bobby had him on OTF for an interview recently. I think it was shortly before the House v NCAA ruling was formally approved. Great discussion. Talked about the role of Texas One Fund after revenue sharing among other topics.
  14. Thanks Bobby! Helpful perspective. Couple things seem clear: 1) Texas Tech has a big “Kick Me” sign on their back as every Big12 head coach expresses some mix of envy and anger towards Lubbock for their stupid money and illegal promises being thrown around. Joey McGuire and the Raiders are gonna get everybody’s best each Saturday. If Tech’s goal was to shine a big bright light on themselves, mission accomplished. 2) It’s gonna take a while, maybe 6 months, maybe a year, maybe longer, for things to settle down with improved clarity and enforcement from the new Sports Commission to start guiding schools and enforcing compliance. Until then, Wild Wild West continues. 3) All the ‘tricks’ used this spring in front loading contracts, paying HS players monthly $$, promising NIL, etc, it’s all short-term. Eventually in the next 1-2 yrs, these overpaid players will be offered much less the next year to stay and then it gets interesting to watch the transfer portal once they’ve drained all the could from their tier 2 school like Tech. 4) Staying with point #3…..Feels like Tech is playing a more brash version of the same game that A&M played in 2022 when they bought their way to the #1 recruiting class. It became clear very quickly you can’t buy culture, the wins didn’t show up on the field in College Station, locker room divided and over half that vaunted #1 class (majority of the top rated players) transferred out. Will be interesting (and fun) to watch unfold and see how it plays out. For A&M, they were so tired of spending and losing that they swallowed $76mllion to part ways with Jimbo and start over. Joey McGuire buyout is nothing in comparison if he doesn’t win big this season. 5) Long-term, Texas gonna be fine. Discipline wins in long run. Strategic Expanded Legitimate NIL (to augment rev sharing) for all our key players on both sides of the ball who are proving it on the field will be key over time. 6) Many teams are gonna find their way to sign 5-stars and load up with unproven talent. With all the money talk and financial promises to these 18-20 yr olds, team culture, discipline, work ethic, player development, elite coaching, now more than ever, will be what separates the elite teams from all others. Fired up for this season to get started!! Hook em!! 🐂🤘🏼🧡
  15. Good to see former Horn appear to get on the right track; albeit there’s a big gap between Texas then OU then Miss St. 😳
  16. Surprised Ty Simpson not included. Read that he’s looked extremely good this spring / summer. Maybe others are more vocal / natural team leaders.
  17. https://apple.news/ABjiGF4g_QxqbE3rSezQO1w I’m bias but would swap Texas -v- OU (3) with Bama -v- Auburn (2). Also, Texas -v- A&M (15) should be in top 10 rivalries imo. Would swap Minnesota -v- Wisconsin (10) with the Horns/Ags.
  18. Came across this article on CBS Sports (in partnership with 247) from exactly 2 years ago to the day that outlined their rankings of all Head Coaches in College Football. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-coach-rankings-2023-oklahoma-states-mike-gundy-dethroned-as-tcus-sonny-dykes-rises-to-top/ Texas had just come off the 8-5 Season, second year under Sark culminating with a loss to Washington in the bowl game. In this article, posted on July 8, 2023, Sark ranked 37th overall and 8th among the Big 12 coaches according to their internal poll. This was only 2 f'ng years ago. Has any coach achieved more and helped their team improve more in the past 2 seasons than Sark and the Texas Coaching Staff? It's not even close. 1) Back to Back College Football Playoff Semi-finals. The only team to make it both years to the playoffs. 2) Final Season Big 12 Conf Championship followed by Inaugural Season SEC Conf Championship Runner Up. Georgia matched with 1-1 record in past 2 SEC Conf Championships. No Other team made it to past 2 conference championships. Georgia with advantage here, given SEC. Since joining the SEC in 2012, A&M has never even made it to the Conf Championship game. 3) 25 Wins over the Past 2 Seasons. Tied with Ohio State for the Most Wins in past 2 years. Georgia a close 3rd with 24 wins. 4) 23 Players Selected in the NFL Draft. The most of any team over the past 2 years. 5) #1 Recruiting Class. First time Texas ranked #1 in Recruiting since the 2000s. 6) Pre-Season ESPN #1 on Football Power Index entering 2025 Season. https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi Some teams (e.g. TCU in 2023 or FSU in 2024) caught lightning in a bottle for one year but it's very different to see the foundation built and sustaining success, getting better YOY under Sark's leadership. If we go back 3 years, OMG, was it ugly during that 6-game losing streak? The seeds were being planted and players being developed back in 2021 and 2022 and the results have been paying off ever since on the field. Lots to be excited about going into this season and even more to be grateful for how far the Horns have come. Drinking the orange kool-aid on this Monday evening, July 7th with barely more than 50 days till kick-off against OSU. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🐂
  19. Always fun to see the projections, including a wild card pick or two. Would think Notre Dame makes the top 4 over Kansas St. I'd go with Texas, Penn St, Notre Dame and Clemson as the top 4 seeds with byes then the rest of the pack Athlon selected is not unreasonable, except swap out Arizona St with Kansas St. ASU Coaching and QB play plus their top WR too strong to not win the Big 12. Think TTU coming in 3rd or 4th in the Big 12 will be fun to watch the meltdown. Would love to see a Texas -v- Clemson National Championship or the one Athlon predicted against Penn St would be awesome as well. Hell, any national championship game that involves the Horns would be incredible. Been too long. Season can't get here soon enough. We'll get to see alot in week 1 re: how different the offense looks in the Arch Era. Hook em!! 🐂🤘🧡
  20. Gotta go with Connor Williams for sure. Freshman first team All-American. Sophomore year, he was consensus All-American, one of only four longhorns to achieve at that point. Even more impressive on a meh 5-7 team overall with a terrible defense but Connor Williams blocking for D’onta Foreman ran for 2,028 yards and 15 TDs. Outside of the crazy game 1 win against Notre Dame, 50-47, with Buechele lighting it up and both Swoopes and Foreman running wild….the lone brights spots that 2016 season, imho, were Connor Williams and D’onta Foreman.
  21. @Shane this was too rich with irony for a guy who’s made 1299 posts on OTF, many of them reflecting your life seems to revolve around recruiting and which school a kid commits to. 😂 Try again. Lmao. Too funny. The humor is on point tonight at OTF. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  22. Ok, I laughed out loud after this one. 😂Needed a bit of Sunday evening humor. Well done. 🧡🐂🤘🏼
