Agree. Anytime Jermichael Finley speaks, he’s all about accountability, work ethic, doing things the right way. Good to see Kaydon make the post online earlier today and clean things up. It wasn’t a good look 2 nights ago but he corrected it the right way today. Any ex-Longhorn who was teammates with Aaron Rodgers and calls him out for lack of accountability, the QB who’s always pointing finger at others after bad throws, lots of respect for JF. 🤘🏼🐂🧡

It was great during softball playoff run when y’all had current active players on OTF for interviews. Would love to have more current active players on OTF for interviews throughout the year from football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, etc. Great way to get to know players. Realize you do it some, just suggesting more when possible.

First, CJ, thanks for putting this out to OTF. It’s awesome the way Bobby and team are constantly working to improve OTF. Here’s a suggestion. During the season (especially football and possibly basketball/baseball to an extent), consider doing regular Top 5, Top 10 or even just Top 3 lists. For example, after the game on Sunday could be Top 10 plays of the game (mix of plays across offense, defense, ST) Call out the ‘Catch of the Game, Throw of the Game, Run of the Game, Hit of the Game, ST Play of the Game, Best Play call of the game, etc. Name the Top 3 Players on Defense and Top 3 on Offense after each game. All ways to make it fun and celebrate the team and individual play. Coukd do something similar for basketball, only shorter list. Maybe just Top 3 plays of the game. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼

Fully agree. Klatt and Cowherd probably do it the best and realize it’s extra production effort. Makes consumption rate skyrocket. Also, for weekly shows where they are clearly broken up into different segments, consider creating chapter bookmarks on video segments to make it easy to scroll to different topics when time is limited.

Pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a dad/son character discussion and learning moment in the past 36 hrs following the Longhorn hat fake and toss the evening of July 4th. I’ve got 4 kids and my oldest son is in his mid-20s. When they make poor choices, even things that seem small in the moment, turn it into a learning oppty. It’s part of growing up and teaching our boys how to become men of integrity and character. I’m grateful to my dad for doing the same with me when I made stupid choices at similar age 40 yrs ago. Again….Kaydon’s followup post today with gratitude and respect for the other teams who recruited him the hardest (highlighting specific players and coaches) while celebrating Notre Dame as his ultimate choice is absolutely the right way to do it. Interesting to see the mix of comments on this topic. Surprised by a few. For me, this goes beyond football and the Kaydon Finley example is extremely minor overall. It was an observation about a moment that was disappointing and unnecessary, especially given his dad’s legacy. More broadly for me, It’s a commentary about doing things the right way. Representing yourself and your family with character and class. The Felix Ojo example was far more egregious and I’m extremely thankful that guy isn’t gonna be a Horn. For a few of you who’ve made incorrect assumptions about me, I feel this even stronger when a Texas longhorn crosses the line. Since Sark has taken over, it’s been refreshing to see the focus on character, doing things the right way, proving it on the field, “who you are some of the time is who you are all the time”. I hope Sark is the head of our football program for the next decade-plus. A much needed change because it wasn’t that long ago when Longhorns (Coaches, Administrators, Players) were definitely not doing things ‘the right way’. When Herman was our coach, I couldn’t stand the way he ‘led’ our team in such a classless, low character way. His lack of character, high ego, narcissistic self important mindset flowed down to some of the team and it was sickening. I posted about it at the time as did others, on other boards. The importance of representing yourself and the university with class. Winning is not all that matters. Back to the present day. Fired up and excited for our Horns. Watching different announcement ceremonies each year, it’s impressive to see kids (regardless of whether they choose Texas or another school) who show a lot of class and character, who are transparent and honest throughout the process then show humility, respect and gratitude (at the time of their decision announcement) for each of the schools who rolled out the red carpet for them over a multi-year process. The ‘hat fake’ is tired at this point, imho.

Fully appreciate it’s one of the best days of his life. There’s a right way and wrong way to do things in the moment, imo. Ojo was a different level of classless with all the deception beforehand combined with the way he did his announcement. I’m not suggesting Finley comes close to Ojo, just think he could be better, especially given how great of a legacy his dad built at UT.

Surprised South Carolina at #10. Given how tough the top end of our schedule is with Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, A&M and OU, it’s not a bad thing to have 4 SEC games against the ‘bottom 4’. Btw, I’d put the bottom 8 of the SEC against #5 to #13 of the Big 10 or #3 to #11 of the ACC or Big12 and SEC would likely have a better record. Lots of easy wins in the other 3 conferences. There are no easy wins in SEC.

Reading a lot into what Gerry and CJ have been saying over the past year……Turntine is who we absolutely have to get tomorrow. He’s the next Kelvin Banks at left OT. Professional, strong culture fit, great frame, excellent projection at left OT for the next 3-4 yrs. Future first rounder if he takes care of business and stays healthy. The ultimate two OTs. would be Turntine and Lee if Texas had their way. Is that fair to say? Ojo is a great player that Texas wants but sounds like he may be more focused on NiL in the short-term versus development, winning and long-term growth. Maybe I’m over reading into things but it sounds like OTF expects Turntine to commit to the Horns and unsure what Ojo will do.

This season cannot get here quick enough. By early August, the love and hate for all things Texas (and Arch) will be at another level. Will be interesting to see where Texas and Ohio State both land in first AP and Coach’s poll, going into week 1. I’m predicting Texas #1 (based on our overall defense and hype for Arch on offense) with Ohio State at #2 to start the season. Regardless of rankings, Ohio State should still be favored around the same 3 points as they are currently.
