  1. @JennyB that’s too funny! Great post! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  2. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/45254341/spring-update-2025-college-football-sp%2B-rankings-every-fbs-team Interesting to see Bill Connelly pre-season ESPN SP+ rankings has our defense at #1 but offense down at #17 for overall ranking at #5. With our front 7 pass rushing speed, our defense has the potential to be a real game changer in 2025 but this low offensive ranking on ESPN makes me excited to see Arch and the skill positions surprise the nation. We’re young on offense across most positions but have crazy athleticism and upside that should be peaking by Nov as the team gains experience and builds continuity. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼

  3. I probably should have included A&M in that list for our ‘Big 5’ games this season. All 5 will be real tests 3 legit road games, 1 neutral site and 1 at home. 3-2 in those games seems most likely. If we manage 11-1 or 12-0, look out!! ChatGPt determined Longhorn regular season record probability as follows: 12-0 - 5% 11-1 - 20% 10-2 - 40% Season doesn’t go as hoped / expected. 9-3 - 25% 8-4 - 10%
  4. Klatt is a big fan of John Mateer as well. Watched him play up close and believes OU will be a completely different team as a result. Gittyup, our schedule appears to be quite a bit tougher this season if OSU, OU, Florida and Georgia all live up to pre-season hype. A&M is hard to read which way they’re moving. The good news is that Texas should be better this season as well overall…..deeper RB and WR rooms, more athletic (less experienced) OL and Heisman favorite Arch at QB. We should have the best front 7 on defense in college football. Secondary is a question mark to be answered but confident given all the young talent. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼
  5. Thought this was interesting from ChatGPT… The most-watched WNBA regular-season game in past 25 years occurred on Saturday, May 17, 2025, when the Indiana Fever faced the Chicago Sky. This game, featuring Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, averaged 2.7 million viewers on ABC, peaking at 3.1 million. It surpassed all MLB games that day and became the most-watched regular-season WNBA game in 25 years . The WNBA’s inaugural game between the New York Liberty and Los Angeles Sparks in 1997 remains the most-watched WNBA game overall, drawing 5.04 million viewers .
  6. TV ratings came out today for last weekend's games. Fever -v- Sky on Saturday peaked at 3.1m viewers and reflects the most watched regular season game in WNBA regular season in 25 years. That's crazy. https://www.espn.com/wnba/story/_/id/45240655/fever-sky-most-watched-wnba-regular-season-game-00
  7. Agree. If CC has a few more 'hard fouls' on other players over the next few weeks, Monica Nutt and the other nuts on ESPN will be out of their mind. Will be interesting to watch unfold as the Fever should be one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the WNBA this season.
  8. I liked Klatt’s comparison of Arch to Trevor Lawrence. The arm strength / accuracy, propensity to air it out which opens up the full field, athleticism and ability to be mobile with faster than expected escapability. Lawrence won the natty for Clemson his freshman year. 25 and 26 are ripe for the Horns to win it all. Hook em!! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  9. Pretty funny looking back at these pre-season rankings now 2 years later. Sarkisian clearly the cream of the crop among Big 12 Coaches but it hadn’t yet fully come together until the 2023 season played out (starting with the big upset win at Bama) followed by thrashing Texas Tech and Oklahoma State for Conf Championship. Venables is appropriately at the bottom of the pile still, regardless of conference. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼 Here are the 2023 Big 12 Preseason College Football Head Coach Rankings as compiled by CBS Sports. Sonny Dykes – TCU Dykes surged from 11th to 1st after leading TCU to the national title game in his first season, marking a remarkable turnaround for the program. Chris Klieman – Kansas State Klieman guided the Wildcats to a Big 12 Championship victory over TCU, showcasing consistent success with a 10-4 record in 2022. Mike Gundy – Oklahoma State Despite a down year in 2022, Gundy’s long-standing success with the Cowboys keeps him high on the list, reflecting his 18-year tenure and multiple double-digit win seasons. Lance Leipold – Kansas Leipold transformed a struggling Kansas program, leading them to their first bowl game since 2008 and achieving a winning conference record in 2023. Dave Aranda – Baylor After a Big 12 title in 2021, Aranda faced challenges in 2022 with a 6-7 record, but his defensive expertise and previous success keep him in the top five. Gus Malzahn – UCF Entering the Big 12, Malzahn brings experience from his time at Auburn, aiming to establish UCF as a competitive program in the conference. Matt Campbell – Iowa State Although the Cyclones had a 4-8 season in 2022, Campbell’s previous achievements, including a Big 12 Championship appearance in 2020, demonstrate his coaching capabilities. Steve Sarkisian – Texas Sarkisian’s tenure at Texas has shown potential, and with a talented roster, expectations are high for the Longhorns as they prepare to transition to the SEC. Kalani Sitake – BYU Sitake’s leadership has kept BYU competitive, and as they join the Big 12, his experience will be vital in navigating the new conference landscape. Joey McGuire – Texas Tech In his first season, McGuire led the Red Raiders to an 8-5 record, including wins over Texas and Oklahoma, indicating a promising future for the program. Dana Holgorsen – Houston Holgorsen’s familiarity with the Big 12 from his time at West Virginia positions him to guide Houston through its transition into the conference. Brent Venables – Oklahoma Venables faced a challenging first season with a 6-7 record, but his defensive acumen and recruiting efforts aim to restore Oklahoma’s prominence. Scott Satterfield – Cincinnati Satterfield takes over a Cincinnati program transitioning into the Big 12, bringing experience from his tenure at Louisville to navigate the new challenges. Neal Brown – West Virginia With a 22-25 record over four seasons, Brown faces pressure to improve the Mountaineers’ performance amidst a competitive conference landscape. These rankings reflect a combination of past achievements, recent performance, and expectations for the upcoming season. The Big 12’s dynamic nature, with new teams joining and others preparing to depart, adds an extra layer of intrigue to the 2023 season.
  10. Thanks @Gerry Hamilton. 3 observations came to mind. 1) How can anyone vote Belichick in the Top 10 among college football coaches? That’s a joke. 2) As the only coach who has made it to the past 2 CFP Semi-Finals with repeated Top 5 recruiting classes, improving record year over year, the best record against Top 25 of any coach in the SEC……How does Sark get completely left off the Top 10 list by a few of the ‘experts’? For the voters who said they give more credit to coaches who get more out of less talent, being a head coach is also about recruiting, retaining and developing players. Don’t punish Sark for building a better roster and developing his players into beasts on the field. 3) Overall, I didn’t have any big objection to where Sark is ranked and who is above him. I expect Sark will continue climbing into the Top 2 over next two seasons. 4) Think it’s pretty funny thinking back 2 years ago when Sark was ranked as only the 8th best coach in the Big 12 (according to CBS Sports) prior to his final season in the conference. Amazing how much has changed in 2 years. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼
  11. That’s awesome and well deserved by both. Volantis has been impressive.
  12. Joel Klatt released his Top 10 QBs this morning. Thoughtful logic for his rankings overall. He thinks a lot of Cade, Arch, Mateer and Leavitt. I could envision all 3 out of 4 of those guys at the Heisman ceremony in 7 months. Hoping Mateer crashes and burns at OU against much tougher competition.
  13. Agree. Sky’s accusations and excuses (Head coach and Angel Reese most notably) after blowout loss were embarrassing. Just acknowledge you suck and got beat by better coaching and better players.
  14. Agree. She makes the rest of her teammates so much better with the way she spreads the floor.
  15. OK…..I’m a die hard Longhorn fan first and foremost. Football first then basketball, baseball then lady’s basketball, softball and everything else. My wife (who’s also a TexasEx) has fully accepted every Saturday each fall will revolve around watching Longhorn Football. After that, it’s the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavs (welcome Cooper Flagg), Dallas Stars (great win last night) and Dallas Cowboys (no chance we get to another SB till JJ sells our Cowboys). Love watching the four golf majors and pull for our Longhorn alums like SS today (clutch back 9 for the win for Scottie after rough start today). That pretty much sums up my sports interests until 2024. I fully acknowledge never caring one bit about watching the WNBA till last season when CC made it interesting every game after debuting with her dynamic passing, logo 3s and the whole “WNBA against CC jealousy tour” the way she handled all the hate with such class, rising above it all. My 10yr old son loves to play basketball and last season he got into watching the women’s game after we watched the women’s ncaa tournament run by CC and Iowa before they hit the Dawn Staley buzz saw in the finals. We never thought one minute about the Indiana Fever, why would we? Then the Fever get CC #1 in the draft. What? Now we root for the Fever in our home. That’s crazy and makes no sense. So many moments last season of the ‘old guard’ showing hate to the new face of the league (left off the 2024 Olympic team looks completely ridiculous in hindsight, all the intentional and obvious efforts by other players to injure CC on the court in non-basketball moves, the one by Carrington with DC shoving her nails in CC’s eye being the most blatant). CC just kept grinding, never got sucked into the BS drama. It’s inspiring and impressive. So yesterday afternoon marked the Fever’s 2025 season kickoff against Angel and the Chicago Sky. It was awesome. The Fever are flat out fun to watch, the pace, fluid ball movement, logo 3s, passionate fans. They blew out the Sky by 35 points (93-58) in by far the most lopsided game of the wnba opening weekend. Like the Lakers of the 80s or the Warrior after Steph Curry took over, it’s fun and impressive to watch whether you’re a fan or not. On her individual performance, Caitlin Clark casually went out and scored a 3rd triple double (20-10-10) in her very short professional career (note: after her next triple double, CC will be tied for 2nd most triple doubles in wnba history 😳). The moment she blocked Angel’s layup with a subtle shove to the floor in the 3rd quarter was awesome as a less-than-subtle notice to the league that it’s a new season and she’s not gonna be pushed around or intimidated this year. The next 3 months are typically quiet for sports in our home after the NCAA World Series, NBA and NHL playoffs…. but not anymore. We’ve got WNBA and Year 2 of Caitlin Clark / Indiana Fever to get us through the summer. Gitty up!!
  16. Love watching Arch’s highlights from last season as a teaser for this season. One of the most exciting things about Arch in this small sample size was his coachability and desire to learn and improve from game to game as evidenced in his two starts: UT -vs- ULM - 15 of 29 for 258 yards, 2TDs and 2INT Arch tried to force some throws in his first start and took some unnecessary chances that led to 2 INTs. One week later for SEC opener… UT -vs- Miss St - 26 of 31 for 325 yards, 2TDs and no INTs Noticeable improvements in Arch’s decision making, not pressing as often downfield when it wasnt there. Will be fun to watch Arch take steps each week, learn, grow, get better, help the team get better as the season progresses. I haven’t been this excited for our horns football season to start in 20 years. Feels like the next couple years could be special. Hook em! 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  17. Oh, Peyton and Eli are a different type of character, lol. 😂🤣
  18. I’m all in for that. If Sark gets 2 National Championships in this new era of college football with the portal, NiL, 12 team CFP (possibly 16 teams starting next year?) where building a dynasty is that much more difficult, Sark will deserve a statue AND they should name the new indoor practice facility after him, lol. 🧡🤘🏼🐂
  19. Agree. Sark has opportunity to be the next Pete Carroll of the 2000s or Nick Saban of the 2010s by building his own legacy at Texas. Agree that Sark turning away Bama's overtures and ignoring calls from the NFL is one more piece to this story that makes it exciting to see what's ahead for the Horns. Sark seems fully locked in, loyal and committed to make Texas great and to build his legacy here. Hook em!
  20. One more question that I've been thinking about....Is there another school across the country that's made a bigger positive turnaround over the past 4 years in all aspects of the football team? Culture, Winning, Recruiting, NFL Draft, Coaching Stability, etc.? No other team comes close. Several teams were already really good and new coaching staffs kept the party going (e.g. Day at Ohio State, Lanning at Oregon) but Day is going to be challenged this season with a much younger team and new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Acknowledging massive bias, but I don't see any other teams across D1 with this kind of incredible turnaround in all aspects of the team over past 4 years. I hope we are able to keep Sark for the next dacade plus, similar to Saban at Bama. May be wishful thinking but his talents translate extremely well at the college level and there's no better job than the 40acres. Hook em!🐂 🤘🏼🧡
  21. Thinking about all that’s unfolded over the past 24 months for the Longhorns football team. So many positives combined with a few bumps along the way. It all starts with Sark, the way he manages, motivates and unifies the team from the top. As much as I liked Mack, there’s something different and ‘next level’ special about the combination of traits and decision making by Sark. His coaching staff, administrative staff including GM, recruiting portal, play calling, preparation, overall decision making and at the core of it all, the culture he’s instilled. High character players, they work hard on and off the field (3.31 team gpa this spring), teammates who put team first, guys could enter the portal for more playing time and more money elsewhere but the stay because they all believe this is something special worth much more. Arch could have left a year ago and easily started (and starred) for many of the Top 25. As he said himself, “some things are worth waiting for.” Quinn could have e transferred after this past season and made more money in one final season for Notre Dame or Miami than he’ll likely make the next 2-3 yrs in the NFl but he cared more about leaving as a Longhorn with class. How many guys would show that loyalty to a school despite many fans openly cheering for Arch to replace him as QB1. Sark could have replaced Quinn in the Georgia game and left Arch in for the rest of the season. Who knows how the result would have been on the field but I bet the locker room would have felt divided. That was an extremely tough situation to manage and the Horns went to back to back semi finals in the CFP with 4th quarter drives in both games that barely ended in defeat. For each of these three men, they repeatedly showed high character, grit, strong decision making, putting team first, setting the tone for the rest of the team. Can’t wait to see how it pays off over these next 2 seasons. It’s not just the result on the field but how the Longhorns are doing it that has me so impressed and excited for what’s ahead. Hook em! 🧡🤘🏼🐂 ,
  22. Found it interesting that they rank ASU’s Sam Leavitt as the #1 QB (at #5 overall on the list) and his WR1 Jordyn Tyson as one of the best receivers (at #19 overall). I can believe that ranking much more than at least one of the other ‘experts’ who had Penn State’s Drew Allar as the top QB. Overall, this list of projected top 100 players was interesting and seems to have some good insight. Still hard to believe Georgia (2) and Ohio State (3) had such a small number of top players going into 2025.
  23. Surprised by how little respect Georgia is getting. Only 2 players (both on defense) made the list. Given the Bulldogs track record on the field, in recruiting and at the nfl draft, how could that be right? Florida with 6, Bama with 5, even South Carolina and A&M had 3 each. It was a bit surprising to see Ohio State only had 3 players make the list with two of those being arguably the best player on offense and defense.
  24. https://www.on3.com/news/top-100-players-in-college-football-for-the-2025-season/ https://www.on3.com/teams/texas-longhorns/news/seven-texas-players-land-in-on3s-top-100-players-in-college-football-for-the-2025-season-list/ Interesting 'Top 100 Players' list from On3. Ohio State has #1 and #3 players in the country with Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs. Texas has the most players in Top 100 of any team in the country with 7 plus we have 3 players in the Top 10. Interesting to see Florida with 6 players in the Top 100 and Georgia only has 2 players in Top 100. The times are changing. Excited for this season to get started. Hook Em!! 🤘🏼🧡🤘🏼🐂 Texas Players in the Top 100 No. 4: EDGE Colin Simmons No. 9: LB Anthony Hill Jr. No. 10: QB Arch Manning No. 43: CB Malik Muhammad No. 45: WR Ryan Wingo No. 90: OT Trevor Goosby No. 93: S Michael Taaffe
