  1. I’m seeing a lot of way too early college football rankings having us as #1 for next season, and my guess is a lot of that is Arch hype, and to be honest I’m not too well versed in what other top teams are losing/gaining, but from an early glance here is my position by position view of if we could be better or worse… and yes, I know it’s too early to do this, but I need to do something to not think about yesterday, so humor me. QB: better or even, I think Arch’s mobility is a game changer RB: Better, Baxter returning will help WR: Big question mark here, we weren’t great in 2024, so I don’t see us getting worse, but will need a big transfer. TE: Probably worse here OL: the inexperience scares me, but if we get the USC transfer and Campbell comes back that could help. Offense Overall: Improved because of the run game will bring much needed balance. Edge: Improved due to experience, this will be a strength. DT: Potential weakness here, need these transfers to pan out, they don’t need to be rockstars as I feel our LB’s and Edges can bring that, but they need to be solid LB: Improved due to experience CB: Worse just because of Barron and Mukuba losses, but should still be above average group. S: Solid, especially if Taffe comes back Defense Overall: slightly worse because of DT and CB, but should still be a very stout defense. P: Improved, can’t get much worse K: No idea what to expect here, need a transfer. thoughts? Where am I wrong?
  2. Looks like they confirmed the game will stay Friday as the weather is trending against a lot of snow. My personal fear is that means rain and potential freezing, but most seem to feel it’s trending positively.
  3. I live in DFW, timing is going to be very important, also it looks like we are getting snow right now, but if things shift it could easily become freezing rain. All I can say is that Texans don’t handle snow or ice well, if either happen, which is looking very likely at this point, all forms of travel will be impacted and be a complete mess. Right now it seems forecasters are leaning towards snow in the 3-6” range, with some calling for up to 12” … 12” would be catastrophic given our infrastructure. It looks like it will all start Thursday and go into Friday. The real question is will it stop soon enough and get warm enough Friday to melt things to make travel a little easier. for those driving up from Austin it will be a mess because the freezing rain is due to hit south of Dallas so the drive up will be brutal.
  4. I had no idea this was even a thing… how can a freshman who just signed a month ago enter the transfer portal? The wild Wild West is even wilder now, you can’t really count on anyone being anywhere.
  5. What’s everyone’s favorite spot to go for a drink and some nightlife post game? I’ll be down there with a friend, looking for somewhere to go after the game.
  6. Well all tickets sold and butts in seats are two different things. If a bunch of scalpers bought tickets and can’t move them then there will be empty seats.
  7. I was also very surprised by how many tickets were available, no reason this shouldn’t be a packed house.
  8. Does that mean no 3rd quarter lights and drones for us also? Will be interested to see how much they sterilize it.
  9. Yeah, also worth noting, we claim Oregon is spending like crazy, we reportedly were the top spending collective in the country.
  10. Gonna have to go get ALL the transfer portal DT’s at this point lol.
  11. I could be wrong, but since the conference was founded in 1932, outside of the founding member none of the additions have ever won an SEC title in football. SC, Ark were added in 91’ A&M & Mizzou added in 12’ none of them have ever won… let’s break up the old guard!
  12. Look at all his recent retweets, all Sooner stuff.
  13. And my guess is we only hear about the half of it. I can’t imagine the amount of BS these coaches go through just to get a class over the line.
  14. I’d recommend for this faint of heart, ignore recruiting all year until signing day and see how things went, my guess is you will be happier. It’s going to be a roller coaster every year from now on.
  15. While I don’t want to lose anyone, I think Lacey would be least impactful to future success given Bell is signed up for the following year and there is rumor of Manning staying more than a year more.
  16. To be fair, it feels like flips are happening all over the place, everyone is losing recruits, we just need to make sure we pick up our fair share of flips to compensate for the loses.
  17. At a certain point, a guy has to want to be a Longhorn, and if they don’t, then fine, go elsewhere. We want guys who want to be here, not guys we just won the bidding for.
  18. I will agree that you can’t just buy championships, look at that famed A&M #1 recruiting class, how did that go for them? with that said the significance for me is just that it ups the ante, Texas can and will be a player in NIL, but others are clearly stepping up their game.
  19. Classy response, I wasn’t over reacting at all, even asked if people thought it was something or not… sounds like you might need to get a life.
  20. My understanding was it’s a salary cap from the universities to players but NIL was still wide open. If that’s the case it doesn’t change a ton. also yes, Texas is always going to be one of the richer schools, but to suggest we don’t need to pay attention to what others do and that a whale like Larry Ellison can just come rolling in and it’s in consequential is ignorance.
  21. We all sort of knew this would happen, it feels like the ante is only going to go up from here, it’s not going to be who is richest, but also whose donor base is most motivated…
  22. Something? Or Nothing?
  23. There is just no way you can strategically try and lose the A&M game. From a recruiting perspective it may be the single most important game we have on our schedule given how many recruits we go head to head on. go play as hard as you can and let the chips fall where they may.
