At face value this is not good, and I cannot stand how some of these players get developed here and then want to leave. This is lack of character on full display, which will haunt them down the road with their decision making. Weak minded individuals do not handle adversity well. With that, from 10,000 feet….
Carlton - Tough loss. She made a turn this year for sure. I love the way she uses her size, great with put backs, and she has a nice shot. She does not look to score enough however, she looks disengaged at times, and she is too inconsistent.
Jordan - Smart, player who plays hard, and she has a beautiful, but inconsistent shot. She has been developed well. This would be a tough loss IMO. Vic started her all year. No idea what happened in Nashville, and I read that she’s tight with Preston, but where’s the loyalty to the program if she is truly considering leaving?
Preston - Amazing quickness and speed. The staff has developed her into a great defender. I love her ability to take the ball to the hole, and I love the energy she plays with. I believe she can run the point here, but she is not a scorer. She cannot shoot from the outside, she has horrible rotation, and she is not good from the charity stripe.
Crump - At one point I thought she and Carlton were going to be the difference makers down the stretch, along with our obvious constants. Then I watched her body language (absolutely horrible)…her defense is not good, and she was out of place, at the Michigan game, running rouge along the baseline, which is absolutely unacceptable. She has a beautiful shot, and early on she displayed the ability to slash. I think she has a lot of talent, but it will be interesting if that is ever fully tapped.
Vic is an amazing and demanding coach. Wale up call…so is the real world. These ladies have an opportunity to play at one of the top institutions in the world and to be coached by an elite staff. I wonder if emotions, feelings, and excuses are getting in the way,
Any player who has a problem with Vic staying with Maddie in the semi game is ludicrous. She’s one of the top 3 players in the nation, IMO the best. They can watch her represent team USA from the couch. Either way, we’ll rebuild. It would be nice to have a point guard that could drain it from the outside and still deliver the rock.
Rori is my favorite player to ever wear the burnt orange. She is the definition of a champion. Holle displayed the same attributes. These “transfers” are missing that. If you want to play and execute on the court, then put the work in, and don’t take the easy, LAZY way out. Quitting is never the answer.
