I unfortunately have a lifelong OSU fan that was a roommate in college so we talk... they thought their front 7 this year was stronger than last years. With that said... I think it needs to be acknowledged, we got some backs that will fight for every yard (and talented enough to get them). When you watch Smothers run, it's clear his vision and footwork gets him yards that our backs couldn't get last year. And... BROWN... I think it's going to be seen as the season goes on, that dude darts through holes and will carry a defender two or three more yards AT HIS SIZE. He hits a hole harder than any running back we've had for the last two seasons. I believe we are going to see some impressive runs and games from our backfield. HOOK 'EM!

Tomorrow we’re bringing the thunder again!” They lined up together, a dangerous crew, With speed on the outside and power breaking through. Wingo could fly, Coleman climbed for the ball, And Bishop and Lockett were ready when called. Mosley stretched defenses from sideline to sideline, While Hollywood waited for daylight to shine. Raleek hit the crease with a burst and a blur, And Arch stood behind them completely assured. But across from the offense came shadows of dread, For the Longhorn defense had risen instead. At the edge stood Colin Simmons, prepared for the fight, A nightmare for tackles on Saturday night. He crouched at the line with one thing on his mind: Find the quarterback — and leave nothing behind. Then Rasheem Biles came downhill with force, Reading the backfield and changing its course. If a runner found daylight and thought he was free, Biles closed the distance before he reached three. In the back end stood Jelani McDonald on guard, Where completing a deep ball would suddenly get hard. And Grayson Littleton, composed and aware, Was waiting for anyone testing him there. The offense had fire. The defense had might. And all across Austin, you could feel it that night. The stadium waited, its seats standing still, But tomorrow those stands would shake from the thrill. One hundred thousand voices would rise with a sound That echoes through Austin and shakes the whole ground. The Tower would glow and the band would soon play, And Bevo would lead the Longhorns away. The eyes of all Texas would turn toward DKR, For another Longhorn season was ready to start. Then Arch gathered the team as the hour grew late, With eleven beside him and millions who wait. He looked toward the stadium, then gave them a grin, For tomorrow there'd be only one thing left: Win. He stepped to the huddle and called through the night, As burnt orange disappeared slowly from sight: “Tomorrow we ride. Tomorrow we fight. Hook ’Em, Texas — and to all a good night.”

All of the RB rooms (minus the QB stats) that made the CFB Playoff last year averaged 125 yds/gm (5yds/carry), would be EVEN higher because Bama brought those numbers down. Without the cupcake games, stripping Arch's rushing totals, our running back room was 65 yds/gm (3.4yds/carry). DRASTIC difference for teams competing for the natty. I know some people want to talk about Arch's numbers in the passing game that need to improve. I believe with our receiving weapons, if our rushing game improves at all... our offense will be clicking, and those wrs will be running wide open.

But it was super obvious at Alabama too and they had that tape, so you'd think bringing him through the portal that you accept that to some degree because of what he can do in the passing game. I'm just thinking out loud... curious who steps up in the TE room.

I know it's early, but have you heard much about the coaches being excited about growth/potential with Niblack for 2025? I know his blocking needs a lot of work, hope it improves!

Any word on what kind of impact Amari can make next year? Or, if he's in the plans for 2025? A big TE that can stretch the field may be better use for Arch. I get blocking may be suspect, but I haven't heard anyone really discuss him as being someone that could step up in some capacity.
