  1. I'm told some, but not all, of the portal visitors made it to the basketball game. I've spotted Chris Jackson in the arena, but he's the only Texas coach I've seen so far.
  2. It's a 20-point half for Josh Hubbard as Swain's desperation three clangs off the iron at the horn.
  3. Wilcher tried to contest a shot, but he's called for a foul with 3.1 seconds left on the clock.
  4. Oustanding backdoor cut by Mark. He gets a dunk off the feed from Traore to make it a one-point game, but the Bulldogs score at the other end of the floor.
  5. Hubbard's third three of the half ends a 7-0 run by the Longhorns. Texas trails State by five, 37-32, with 3:48 to go until halftime.
  6. No sign of the football visitors yet, for those interested in portal news.
  7. Texas is in the midst of a three-plus-minute scoring drought in which it has turned it over three times.
  8. A 7-0 State run after an easy bucket and Sean Miller calls a timeout at the 9:14 mark of the first half to talk it over. Texas trails Mississippi State by four, 25-21.
  9. Swain might have a double-double by halftime. He's got seven points and eight boards with just 10 minutes left in the half.
  10. Jordan Pope is back on the bench after picking up two quick fouls.
  11. Consecutive possessions for State end with their guards getting to the bucket, scoring and getting fouled.
  12. On the floor (12:11): Pope, Weaver, Wilcher, Swain and Traore
  13. Great hustle by Daylin Swain on the offensive glass so far today.
  14. A missed three by Hubbard turns into a push and nice feed from Wilcher to Matas for a bucket.
  15. Make it seven as he comes off a high ball screen and nails a three.
  16. No surprise that Hubbard has State's first four points.
  17. Mark contorts his body in the air from the elbow. His jumper falls for the first Texas bucket.
  18. Crowd is still filing into Moody Center. We'll see how much juice is in the building with the Christmas break putting a huge dent into the numbers in the Corral.
  19. The 2005-06 Elite Eight team being recognized today is, I still believe, the most talented team Rick Barnes coached at Texas. With LaMarcus Aldridge, Brad Buckman, P.J. Tucker and Daniel Gibson, those Longhorns were elite on defense. That team broke my heart, however. They went 30-7 and I felt like they had a great shot to win it all when the LSU team, led by Garrett Temple, Big Baby Davis and Tyrus Thomas, beat Duke in the Sweet 16. It didn't work out and that's a shame. It was the last time Barnes got that close to a Final Four (he got Texas to the Elite in 2007-08, but the Longhorns weren't going to get by Derrick Rose and Memphis).
  20. FWIW, Bart Torvik likes the local cagers by 9.9 points today (projected 84-74 final favoring Texas).
