  1. Interesting hire wonder what Larry Johnson thinks of the hire? I know Belichick is bringing his son to North Carolina as DC but interesting Belichick didn’t reach out to Patricia for some staff position. Either way two new coordinators new QB and replacing ton of NFL talent on defense bodes well for Texas you would think.
  2. It doesn’t make sense to leave a small private school to go to a larger school like Texas which has one of the biggest Athletic departments and relatively unlimited resources. SMU had to buy their way into the ACC. How big can SMU’s budget be when you factor in the deal they made to get into the ACC vs. traveling cost, facility upgrades, coaches etc. Don’t forget NIL deals and possible revenue sharing deal. More of a headache. At Texas you are played well and no shortage of financial means. Boosters and fans can be a problem at any school so that shouldn’t be any issues.
  3. Karl Scott is young coached both in college and currently in NFL. Both Saban and Carroll hired Karl him and was at Alabama when Sark was there. Don’t know if he would be interested in recruiting but did seem to develop talent at his previous stops.
  4. Wondering with this hire if Banks can focus a little more with Special Teams.
  5. Welcome aboard! Always enjoyed reading your threads on 247. Enjoyed the podcasts and your live game threads.
  6. Was not impressed with Ohio State CBs last night. There Safeties on the other hand play lights out.
  7. Klein was a questionable hire in my opinion for Elko. I don’t think he was all that great for K State as OC. I don’t think Weigman fits the system. Maybe that is due to receivers, or Weigman was not making good decisions and throws. Al Golden called a great defense last night. I wonder if Henderson played if the A&M offense would have played better?
  8. I think Elko made a mistake by not trying to recruit Riley. He really likes look he could run Klein’s offense better. The way Riley runs is a lot like Tebow, Klein, Bell and Ehlinger very powerful. A&M’s defense will keep them in games for sure. It did look like A&M’s defense worn down a little in the 4th quarter. Bad angles and missed tackles really hurt them.
  9. Conference loss as well
  10. I think this is a bad hire for Day. I am not sure Kelly has the energy to recruit anymore. Kelly also does not like the NIL era right now. Kelly also has not matched the success that he had at Oregon. This could be disastrous for Day.
  11. Wonder if Ryan Williams ask out of his NLI? Really is DeBoer’s offense though.
  12. I agree but Caleb has been the best QB Riley has had. The problem is that QB in Riley’s system does not have to be the most talented. The QB just has to get the ball out quickly. You can see Caleb struggle if he can’t get his first option. I think defenses schemed better this year. Also think the Wars this year were not as good. Branch didn’t seem to be used as much as he could have. Both Deboer and Sark has shown to have good offensive schemes and QBs have improved in development each year. I think with Washington hiring Kingsbury as the OC they may try to trade up to get Caleb. Kingsbury was with USC this year so Kingsbury knows Caleb. The question will be are we seeing another Ryan Leaf or someone who can be coached to maximize his potential?
  13. I think Sark may have felt it was a matter of time before someone tried to poached Glasscock or Harris for GM position. I think Sark was trying to reconfigure the positions. I do believe keeping Harris is very valuable. He seems to connect well with recruits and has really helped Texas Football overall. Look no further than having Harris on the road recruiting when Davis left. As far as the NCAA this is not an easy solution. Division I, II, and III will be affected in some shape or form. I know a lot of people want the NCAA to go away but you need a strong plan in place. You will need something like they did after WWII with the Marshall Plan. Every level Division I, II, III men and female athletes will need to be evaluated as all will be affected by NIL, Transfer, Eligibility, etc. I am not sure there will be conferences in FBS but maybe a pod or region structure with each sport having a Commissioner with a rules committee. I think there will be eventually a players union with medical and disability benefits etc. I see college sports moving to a more professional model with certain rules, regulations, and penalties.
  14. Question is will non conference games exist? What do you do with the Military academies?
