  1. Statistically, the best Longhorn football team was the 1914 team. The team averaged 44.7 points on offense per game and allowed only 2.6 pts per game on defense (5 shutouts in an 8 game season) The team that played Texas the closest on the year was the Haskell Institute Fighting Indians (now the Haskell Indian Nations University (Land Grant)). The Fighting Indians were the only team to keep Texas under 30 points and one of only three teams to score on Texas for the season. Texas won 23-7. Coincidently, Haskell beat both LSU and TA&M by a combined score of 41-0.
  2. yes, USC got it wrong and will find out. That is part of Texas' problem this year the last few years. When you have back to back to back great recruiting classes, it is very difficult to give them all adequate playing time. This has always been a problem but not only do these players now have a means to change their situation without setting themselves back a year, they also have a monetary incentive to do so. In this current recruiting climate, they can not afford (literally) to stockpile the roster with talented depth chart backups.
  3. Yes, but there is history behind this seemingly reckless move. Israel attacked the USS Liberty off the Sinai peninsula in 1967 with jets and multiple torpedo boats trying to sink it. The USS Liberty was not a war ship but a scientific ship being used to surveil Israeli-Egyptian engagements. After surviving hundreds of holes and a 37' diameter hole at sea level by a torpedo ship, the USS Liberty would not sink. Israel dispatched several attack helicopters to finish the job but the pilots refused to engage and pulled away stating it doesnt look like a war ship and citing a lack of response on the ship. The USS Liberty had no mounted cannons or guns, except a 50cal machinegun and there was no way to mistake the US flag until the flagpole was shot down; therefore it could not have been mistaken as an Egyptian warship in direct fire range. There were quite a few Americans kill and, if remember correctly, 130 some odd injured. This was deliberate attack but ordered by whom? If you are of the cynical type, there is a theory that this was a false flag ordered by the LBJ administration as a means to blame Russia and get them pulled into the fight. Had the USS Liberty sank, nobody would have known anything different than the official narrative, which likely would have been different.
  4. Born at St David's hospital in Austin. Retired from the army at Ft Hood, TX after 26 yrs and live in the Killeen area.
  5. That was a fun game to attend. Ash was a MUCH better QB thank a lot of fans gave him credit.
  6. I dont think Baugh will pull QB money. He will likely get $1.5-2mil; nonetheless, you cant have both and that is the issue. Wisner is a good change of pace RB but his production over 3 yrs does not show featured running back status. Undoubtedly, he wants to be the featured back next year to redeem himself for the draft and that is not going to happen at Texas now.
  7. Demanding more money? or doesnt like the competition Sark is going after in the portal? From his perspective, Wisner probably wants to be the featured back if he wants to play one more year in CFB. His draft grade probably wasnt what he wanted and needs to build up his resume Another reason I am following CFB less and less.
  8. What I put on the Michigan 247 board earlier....
  9. Manning and Florida RB Jadan Baugh started following each other on IG. Baugh also posted about Juluke being hired at Texas.
  10. Thanks for the thread Jeff
  11. I'm more concerned about the Longhorn players that will not participate. Does anyone have a list?
