  1. Agreed. You have capable bodies in Collins, Broughton, Savea, and Bledsoe, but I would consider those guys to be 1 gap type DTs.. All of them are ready to play.. You have the 2 gap guys, which are January, Mitchell and Bryant. If Texas wants to run the same type of DL game, that second group really needs to step up. The question becomes will PK mix things up, if they do not? Keep in mind Nansen had his DL moving a lot at Arizona, so I think we are likely to see some schematic changes.
  2. I would not sleep on Bledsoe. I know it is crazy to say, but Bledsoe and Collins are probably the 2 most talented DTs at Texas in awhile. No idea if either hit their ceiling. The only issue is both are movement guys (most of the DTs are). There is no Sweat on the roster (at least, that you assume is ready to play). That will mean PK will have to change some things to get the most out of this unit. It will also mean the LBs will have to really step up, because they will not be protected like they were last year.
  3. More interested in seeing if he runs down hill, instead of cutting everything to backside.. that was the reason the Redcat was scrapped
  4. If we want to get positive, that is likely going to come from the OL and QB position. Quinn had a massive jump from year 1 to year 2. I am going assume he will take another step forward. The OL might take a big step this year. Hopefully, we won’t see those early season busts in pass pro like last year. I am hoping to see a big leap in run blocking. That should have a huge impact on the red zone issues from last year. Improvement from Baxter would go a long way there also. Texas didn’t really have a RB that was good in short yardage in 23.
  5. I am just talking overall. Texas is likely to have 4 NFL picks out of the skill positions in this draft (X, Mitchell, Sanders, Brooks). I would blindly bet against Texas having 4 NFL draft picks at the skill positions for eternity. I'll lose a couple times, but overall Ill make money. If Texas has 3 draft picks in the receiving corp (including TE), we arent seeing 5 and 6 on the field much.
  6. Texas may get 2 WRs taken in the first round and Sanders maybe the 2nd/3rd TE off the board, that will be hard replicate. Bond as that potential, but hard to say anyone else on the roster is ready to be at that level this season,
  7. We shall see how it all comes together.. You can could argue the receivers and RBs are a down grade from last year. Bigger question will be how long does it take for Quinn and the receivers to generate some chemistry.
  8. I am sure they are monitoring weight, but people need to realize there is only so much the staff can do. If a player is going to free base twinkies and Ho-Hos, there is nothing the staff can do about it. Fans get excited but weights, but we won’t know if it is good weight until we see them on the field.
  9. It more about being decisive. Lot of times RBs were too patient or looked to cut it outside/backside. Sometimes you just have to go.. Why Rojo was better in short yardage situations, than Bijan.
  10. Yes.. It would be nice to see Texas become a team that can impose their will on a defense. It would be nice to be confident in a TD, when the offense has 1st and goal from the 5 next year. I think RBs need to take a step forward in that regard, as well as, the OL . Also I will be looking to see if there is any shift in defensive philosophy this year. This is likely to be a faster defense, but less stout up front. Will PK look to use more movement on the LOS that should play to the strengths of the DL this year?
  11. Lot of WRs projected to the 1st round.
  12. I dont see any shade in that, He is directly blaming Admissions
  13. Just the truth. Major questions on him coming in were weight and conditioning. He came in heavier than anticipated and tired during the drills. Sucks, but he probably cost himself money
  14. Rough outing for Sweat. Murphy did his thing. Fiske from FSU put on an absolute show.. https://www.the33rdteam.com/2024-nfl-combine-winners-losers-from-thursdays-workouts/
  15. I think he is first round talent, but he has to overcome the "does he love football" questions.
  16. It will be interesting, I dont think scouts will be overjoyed about his weight.
  17. I prefer him on defense. I am not sure if it Safety or LB. LB seems to be the highest upside. He is listed at 6'3" and 210. Seems like on of those athletes that you brign on campus and see where a proper S&C program takes his body. Reminds me of Jelani MCDonald, but a little larger.
  18. Hurt me to do it, but I had to go with an offensive player for a bar fight. DJ Campbell
  19. I meant the DL that were in the post from Bobby Defensive tackle (9) - Ford, Brown, Ridgeway, Sweat, Elliott (transfer), Graham, Collins, Coburn, Ojomo
  20. Did Bo recruit any of those players?
  21. To truly appreciate the disaster that was the 2019 class you need a full look at it.. Listed in order of highest rated to lowest Bru - transfer Owens - transfer JWhitt Floyd- medical Smith- transfer Johnson- transfer Warren- transfer Adimora- transfer Gbenda Liebrock- transfer Washington - transfer Shepard- transfer Brown- medical Rojo Sweat Mpagi - medical JOnes Lewis - transfer Caldwell- transfer Wiley- transfer Tyler- transfer Mitchell- transfer Hopefully my memory was correct on that, but lets forget about development and just look at retention. 78.2% of the class transferred or had medical issues. It one thing to miss on guys that become program players (back-ups and special teams), it is another to see almost 80% just walk out the door
  22. IF takes needs 4 QBs the season is done anyway. In a portal world it is hard to have 2 decent QBs. DT depth is not really the issue at DT. Texas has 3 techs falling out of the sky. The question is if there is a run stopper in the group. Murphy was more of the gap shooting DL last year and Texas has a plenty of those. Sweat was an immovable object that ate double teams for breakfast and I am not sure that there is a player on the roster that can can fill that role. I think guys like January and Sydir can will be fine in 2025, but not sure in 2024.
  23. Perhaps they will surprise me, but I dont think even A&M is that dumb
  24. I am hoping the 2nd round projections happen, but they just don’t make sense to me.
  25. I would like to Worthy in KC, He would do very well in that system. Andy Reid understands how to use a player like that. I prefer neither go to Atlanta. Hoping both of them land in a spot where there is are not QB questions. Sweat to Baltimore is a great fit. He fits in great as a NT in a 3 man line. Probably too early, but a great fit for Seattle also (same system)
