I dont think it will be as big of an exodus, if Harbaugh leaves. Bama's sell in recruiting has been Saban. Remember Mack Brown Texas football? That was actually legit at Bama, it was Nick Saban Alabama Football. I think Michigan's identity is more closely linked to the school, than to the Head Coach.

X is the guy that could go early. Some will focus on the warts in his game, but I could see someone falling in love with his quickness and long speed. MItchell was great for Texas, but most DCs game plans centered around X when they played Texas. X brings a skill set with him to the NFL that few have.

I am sure there are a lot of moving parts and I would bet Sark has more than 1 option on the table. Keep in mind this not a Texas team coming off a losing record. Texas will get a look from recruits, even if it takes another couple weeks. You can look at some of the late picks-up in the last cycle as evidence for that. Getting the right hire is way more important, than filling the spot quickly.

I am thinking more about the versatility behind the CBs with the 2024 secondary and probably over-thinking it (it is the off-season). Having a FS with range, allows secondary to run more Single high looks and variety of coverages. Speed at BOTH spots, allows you to be very versatile in your calls and disguises (Makuba and Williams have that athletic ability). I wonder what William Gay can offer to the staff. He obviously has a lot of experience in fire zone schemes that Pittsburgh/LeBaeu made famous. Maybe he can bring a little more variety and disguise to the coverages. With an infusion of speed at safety, assuming Makuba/Williams are back there, I wonder if we see more single high looks this year. You can add an expected downgrade to the front 7 rush defense, as a reason to for more single high looks also.

NFL can lock up assistant coaches, until they make a new HC hire. It is plausible that it could be a DL coach from a team that fired their HC. I would bet on Wright, but there is chance it could be someone on a team like Seattle or Atlanta that lost their HC.

The real issue is at the Nose.. Texas has a bunch of 3 techs. Who is going to be able to consistently anchor vs double teams? Seems the only true 1 techs on the roster are Bryant, Mitchell, and January.. None of them have played much.
