  1. I'd bite the bullet and probably take half of what Sark was paying Glasscock to come in and do the job. Save some money so Taylor Searles can improve her barrel budget for visits.
  2. Is there a companion softball academy? If I could ever convince my wife to let us move back to Texas I'd need that for my 8 yo.
  3. I know I'm a super optimist, but I think in the end we will have upgraded at both defensive spots. We might be losing a little bit on the coaching front but I think we are going to be in a much better place recruiting-wise.
  4. Gerry, rank the interior DL prospects that Texas is in on for the 2025 class. And do you think they are going to end up taking 4-5?
  5. Need to get Zion closed down and then work from there. He's a must have.
  6. I wonder what the backstory is here. Just $, difference of opinion or if he views this move as a promotion? Interested to see where Sark goes from here. It will definitely be someone I've never heard of or never considered based on his last few hires.
  7. tOSU looked at what Michigan was doing under Harbaugh and said, "Let's hire a guy who has no problems raising money to help us buy whoever we want!" They were already strong recruiters, especially at the skill positions, but now they are going to be even stronger with the additional NIL funds. I don't think we have quite as much overlap with them as Bama or Georgia has recently but I fully expect them to start trying to get as many of the top guys that they can from all over. If I were Day and had a massive war chest I'd be blanketing the country with offers for 5*s and then seeing what happens if I can get them on campus.
  8. I think they don't have a choice but to empty the barrel right this second. New staff and now without the SEC selling point against Texas (and OU) means that there isn't much they can say to kids other than early playing time or big NIL $ to try and recruit against us. They need to have a really good season and win against us in November. If we have the season that I expect us to and whip them at their place Elko might be finished before he even gets a chance.
  9. I LOVE what Sark and co. do addressing needs in the portal. They don't reach for guys early on in the portal who might not completely fit what they're looking for like they were forced to do when they first arrived and almost always end up getting someone later on that was as good or better than what they could have done right off. And while I think the UH DT was a loss, I do believe there were extenuating circumstances there more than just losing Bo Davis that might have hurt us there. And they still were able to fill a need there and will more than likely keep looking at Michigan guys if they portal or guys after the spring that come available. In addition to that, Sark does an awesome job of finding portal guys that don't always hurt us with the younger talent that might be on campus. Getting portal adds that could come in for one year and then leave for the draft because of productivity just improves everyone around them in the long run. If a younger guy ends up leaving because we brought someone in and they aren't on the field, then there's a pretty good chance that they aren't someone who Sark necessarily wants to keep around if they're not willing to put the work in.
  10. Texas A&M is going to be smart to lock up guys that we might not be pushing as hard for right now. For them they might not be able to compete head to head with us right this second for the top top guys so get the ones a little below and keep working the top ones. They can't cherry pick nearly the same way that we can but you can still get some really good guys early on if they evaluate them well.
  11. Every DL we have currently on the roster or signed should be extremely excited about this hire. I definitely did not know much about him before we hired him, but this is another hire straight out of the Sark playbook when it comes to a guy who's definitely going to be a STRONG developer of talent. We can't project how he's going to be able to recruit but to be completely honest the days of a rainmaker recruiter who just goes out and gets the guys he wants are a thing of the past. NIL has befcome such a big factor that average recruiters can become much better in the right situations and there's zero doubt that Texas and it's NIL setup will make recruiters better. It's going to be very interseting to see how the change from Choate and Davis to Nansen and Baker turns out. We definitely got younger and possibly hungrier at those spots and while Choate was a much better recruiter than most people gave him credit for (He wasn't Choate the goat for nothing!) but I think Nansen is going to be an upgrade there and Davis was a better developer than he was recruiter IMO so hopefully Baker will come in and be similar to a guy like Choice on the trail. If that occurs I could see us ending up improved with two new hires overall and imrpove what was already a very strong staff from top to bottom. And yes anyone who knows me knows that I'm generally going to be on the more optimistic, glass half full side of things so cut me some slack if I sound crazy.
  12. Man even if he entered it would be extremely close to be able to get him in on time before the add/drop date. Would Texas be able to squeeze him in after if it came down to it?
  13. If he's that big already, could he potentially slide inside and be a super disruptive 3 tech? I mean that kind of athleticism inside would make him a LOT of $$.
  14. Did I hear him correctly the other day when he said he was 6-6, 265 right now?
  15. The Lions DT coach John Scott has a pretty darn good resume. https://www.detroitlions.com/team/coaches-roster/john-scott-jr
