  1. You oldies are definitely making me want to renew my subscription. What a welcoming community, 🤘.
  2. My brother in Christ, you came in here to start this. You could’ve scrolled past.
  3. He’s making some decent plays here in the fourth. Not sure why everyone is being so sassy in this thread. I actually logged in wondering who else was watching him. My feel is Texas wanted to reset the run game after a rough year. Good post, 🤘
  4. Really hope the conference rules stick, even if it feels last ditch with the NCAA getting their lunch handed to them repeatedly. But conference pressure seems like the only thing that’s been reigning in the insanity, like with Sorsby. Kickoff can’t come soon enough.
  5. Ya, just finished the Always College Football podcast. Sounds like all defenses for all the top teams are ahead of their offenses in scrimmages and practice. No teams are perfect, and it’s a long way to go. Best and worst is yet to come. Good your loins, friends.
  6. While we’re waiting for today’s scrimmage reports, I thought I’d share a fun fact about AP preseason rankings. As you may know, AP preseason #1 is “cursed,” only finishing with the National Championship twice this century: USC in 2004, and Alabama in 2017. But that got me wondering what preseason ranking was “best” in the modern era (since 1998). Turns out, #5 is just slightly better! Not as good as #2, but I’ll take it over the #1 curse. No PTSD from last season here, lol. Stats below. But enjoy the season knowing we’re basically a lock for the ‘ship, haha. Hook ‘em. AP Preseason Rank that Won • #2 has 9 titles (32%) • #1 has 3 titles (10.7%) • #3 has 3 titles (10.7%) • #5 has 4 titles (14.3%) • Everything else (6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 19, 20, 22) has 1 title each
  7. AP pre-season rankings are coming on Monday, and I'm curious where people think we'll land. Coaches poll has at 4, SP+ has us at 6, and Joel Klatt and Solid Verbal has us at 7. The national conversation seems to be that we have a crazy high ceiling, but there are more questions to answer and a much harder schedule than the teams in front of us (except Ohio State, maybe). To me, 4 seems reasonable, but I'm guessing voters will put us at 6 or 7. Where do y'all think we'll land? Hook 'em!
  8. Any news on how special teams is shaping up for this season? Haven’t heard anything for a while. Any opportunities for young players to make an impact? We’re getting some nice hype for our offense and defense, but can’t stop thinking about how the last couple seasons have been kept alive (or killed) by our special teams.
