I was at the game but I don’t remember the weather being bad. He got knocked out on a punt return I think. Holy cow that was 65 years ago. I am old.

Man I went to my first game in 1961 as a six year old and this guy was amazing…..

I would love to have a gathering of all of the OTF staff and fans on Thursday before the first game at Scholz. It would be nice to meet everyone.

Alan Lowry who pulled a rare feat while at Texas. In 1972 he was a first team all SWC safety. In 1973 he was a first team all SWC quarterback. Pretty sure he is the only player in Texas history that has done that since two platoon football started. Might be the only player in college football to do it but that I am not sure of that. Great athlete.

I am old and as a 14 year old kid I went to a lot of open practices in 1969 and many years afterwards. Hung out with Scooter Monzingo who was number twenty and was the punter for the National Champions in 69. I would go with the kickers over to the old practice field which was just across the street (southwest of the stadium) while the rest of the team practiced in the stadium. I actually held the ball for Happy Feller while he practiced field goals. Not taking a snap but just holding on the old 2” black kicking tee.
