  1. Fall 1998 when Ricky was hosing the Aggies. Terry couldn't hang.
  2. This is where I feel I'm talking to a brick wall. Offense and defense are complimentary, more so in basketball than football. Let's see, Beard built a top 5 team, Terry has about about the 50th best team. What are we talking about? Gerry can make all the excuses he wants. Doesn't change anything.
  3. If he doesn't, that's not a good sign.
  4. I disagree. Sucking is never a good year. We'll be in the same place a couple of years from now when Terry is canned.
  5. You would think this is just run of the mill stuff. All reports have been that Lacey is solid. That can change, but it doesn't seem like something to agonize about.
  6. Sorry for getting off topic, SamMan.
  7. I guess you could describe it as a guard based screen offense that basically concentrates on what guards love, the so-called "dribble drive" offense. Do I think you need half court offensive sets that rely on passing and movement? Yes. Is that too much to ask? I don't think so. It's pure physics that the ball can be moved quicker by passing than it can by dribbling. Doesn't matter to me that most teams stick to the same thing that sucks. The Longhorns don't have the guards to excel with dribble drive gooberism. It's hard for me to believe there are no longer front court players who can hit a five to ten foot shot.
  8. Can someone explain what they do on offense? I can't discern what they actually do on offense. They shoot the three decently sometimes. When they play a team that can pressure the ball and rotate, they have real problems. Maybe that's not horrible, but it's not enough to consistently win against good competition because they don't have system they can rely on.
  9. My main gripe is that we have no real offensive system. I know college basketball has been guard dribble dominated for years, but I don't even know what that is supposed to look like from game to game.
  10. Del Conte went politically correct and screwed the pooch. Terry won't get it done.
  11. I don't get the Ohio State thing. Howard is a Kansas State reject. Sayin left Alabama because he didn't want to compete with Austin Mack. Brown couldn't satisfy Day. If any of those guys do as well as Ewers or Manning, I'll kiss their proverbial butt.
  12. What I remember about Ricky days is that they were early Kobe Bryant days. Everyone jumped on the bandwagon after he died in 2020, but when he was a teenager in 1997-98, most were dogging him big time. I'd grown up a Lakers fan with Magic, Kareem and Worthy in the 80s. I remember Jerry West saying Kobe would be among the greatest ever when he drafted the boy in 1996 as a 17 year old high school kid. That's all I needed to believe then. By 2000 they won the title. In 2001 Kobe showed he was the best player in the world against Sacramento and San Antonio in the playoffs, even though most wouldn't admit it.
  13. Here's a way to think about it. If Arch entered the transfer portal this spring with the proviso he wants to start in 2024, which top 25 teams would take him? I'm thinking all but Georgia and Texas. Maybe Ole Miss and Oregon would balk. No one else. Sooners and Vols would hem publicly, but when push came to shove, they'd take him in heartbeat too. All these goobers complaining about him turning down $600 are full of it. I'd turn town $600 if I couldn't dictate how I'm portrayed, and I don't have the money of the Mannings.
  14. I mistakenly reacted to the post. Thinking about the Sooners gets me riled up.
  15. You got that right!
  16. Quinn will much better in NFL than the Cro-Magnon man Arnold.
  17. They wouldn't be fans of criminal interlopers if they weren't demented in the first place.
  18. I watched an idiot Lehman and Ikard podcast during which they complained about Arch not opting into the video game. They claimed he's acting like a guy who thinks he's too good. Let's see, the criminal interlopers from north of the Red River had to ditch their 10th year starting QB so they could appease Arnold and his daddy. Now they're going into the SEC with an inexperienced QB, no o-line, and they're going to suck, because their freshman QB pulled a power play on them, yet they want to claim Arch, who is patiently waiting his turn, didn't opt into a stupid video game. Man, these guys are losers.
  19. I know. I don't see Leonard making a big difference because they don't have the skill players to compete with the highest level SEC and Big 10 teams. I'm sure they will make the playoff if they win ten games. That would likely mean they went 2-2 against the four potentially tough teams they play (A&M, Louisville, Florida State and USC). That said, there is a very good chance none of those four teams will make the playoff, so I seriously doubt ND belongs even if they go 10-2. That will be much more of a TV decision than Alabama was over Florida State in 2023.
  20. That may be, but ND is almost always vastly overrated in the pre-season because the industry wants to drive TV ratings. Can't see Leonard being good enough to elevate them to true national title contention.
  21. That's what I'm thinking. Howard will have one of his multiple interception games and the OSU fanbase will go bucknuts. I don't see Sayin taking over. Probably be Devin Brown.
  22. Specifically, I want to get some feedback on Will Howard. I've watched some Ohio State fans gush on this guy, but I don't get it. He was an average Big 12 QB. He transferred because he wasn't going to even start in 2024. He personally lost the game to OK State in 2023. This is the glaring hole for the Buckeyes in 2024. If we face them in the playoff, I hope Will Howard is their QB.
  23. Based on his football demeanor (crying in the stands), and his obvious tendency to get rather full of himself, I'd take about four or five QBs before him.
