    I used to go to Mavs games up through the early Cuban era. After Cuban became a big mouth idiot, couldn't stand Mavs. That to say I have some distance. Mavs fans who think Luka is some kind of all time great are way out there. He can't play defense. He can't get in good shape. One hot playoff run does not an all time great player make. Davis is a better all around player. Davis is seven years older. Thus the trade is not nearly as lopsided as click bate artists or Mavs fans think. If Luka finally decides to stop eating and drinking like a frat boy (and that's a big "if"), then maybe it's a good long term deal for the Lakers. That takes us back to the defensive problems Luka has. That's the insurmountable fact which makes the deal much murkier than highlight fans think.

    Luka is equivalent to a dozen hamburgers and a two for one taco special.

    As a former Lakers fan, I don't like trading for chubby boy. Since the NBA has been a joke for about fifteen years, it doesn't really matter.

    Gerry and Bobby can say what they want. Turntine going to Tennessee on Texas junior day isn't good. Maybe it's a negotiation ploy. Don't overpay.

    The Auburn offense is quite intriguing to me. It's by no means a thing of beauty, but they quickly reverse the ball from side to side, which creates open shots and opportunities to drive or enter the ball to the post. Bama does a good job of screening both on and off the ball. They don't reverse the ball nearly as much as Auburn, but they pass and dribble drive with a purpose that sets up good shots. Texas dribbles and stands. That's we we don't have an offense but other teams do.

    While it's true there isn't as much off the ball movement and motion today (and this is not a positive development or change), every other college team doesn't run isolation with maybe a screen. The better offenses pass the ball around the perimeter looking to get open threes or drive into the lane if they can get a defensive player out of position. It's quite basic and boring, but they do it. Texas doesn't pass.

    I don't think the NIL budget keeps them from running a actual offense.

    Sayin (OSU QB) is not a runner or strong athlete. He's a passer. He may have great pocket presence, but it doesn't seem likely it will be overly advanced in his first start against the Texas level of defense.
