  1. The instability in college athletics provided the entry way necessary for Landry and his local judges to enter the fray. As the old saying goes: nature abhors a vacuum. That said, Kiffin is also a deliberate actor in this. Stupid sayings like "don't hate the player, hate the game" miss the point. He's an unethical reprobate seeking to advance his personal profile in a way no different than Landry. Regardless of how this works out for LSU, the SEC needs to drop the hammer on him to prevent future hucksters from trying to destabilize the system for their personal gain.
  2. I'd argue the LSU situation with the Governor basically taking over the LSU athletic department is not closely related to playoff expansion. Landry saw a way to increase his political capital, and knew he could get away with it in the state that is more corrupt than Tammany Hall because it's always had the lowest rated education system in the country. No doubt the political side is also financially motivated in the end, but the money comes from different places.
  3. This is what happens when political leaders get involved with college athletics. It's a no lose battle for the politicos because they get votes regardless of the outcome for "sticking up" for the "team." Of course, it could only happen in Louisiana. The state of Louisiana should invest in literacy rather than LSU athletics. It won't happen because corruption is most definitely profitable on the bayou.
  4. Don't want to dis a kid who doesn't know what he's talking about because he's too young to know better. Marcus got Shaq about Kareem. Got Shaq above Kobe. Got Shaq above Magic. Don't know what he's talking about. Can't root for dumbassness.
  5. @Gerry Hamilton It's all Jerrys. Why do you think Jerry West and Jerry Buss thought Kobe was better than Shaq? When Shaq recently said Lakers fans loved Kobe more than him, I thought no crap genius. I became a Lakers fan in 1978 watching Kareem when I was 5. I never considered Shaq anywhere close to Kareem, Kobe or Magic. Fatboy wouldn't work. Jerry West told us in June 1996 that Kobe was more important Shaq.
  6. He'll play tackle. Alan isn't stupid.
  7. I hope you're right.
  8. They didn't have a special carve out last year.
  9. Committee does its own rankings. They figure out a way. Why do you think ND is the only team with a special carve out?
  10. Problem is the altar boys could lose two and the committee would still blindly put them in.
  11. Uniforms Wisco and ND are wearing look hideous. You would ND at least would remain traditional.
  12. I live in the country, but I don't go to any clubs. I also have brothers (biological and social), but we don't engage in engage in mantras, symbolic ceremonies or anything like that.
  13. I respect your opinion, Gerry. I never said your view on ND or Kiffin is unfounded. I don't agree, but I don't like ND, so I just might have a blind spot.
  14. That's how I knew you'd take the altar boys later today if they simply don't look horrible (or maybe even if they do). I'd say Texas State is probably as good as Wisconsin.
  15. He'll quickly switch to Freeman and Notre Dame if they play decent or better later today against Wisconsin.
  16. Here's a blast from the past for you @Gerry Hamilton. I was listening to Macarena in the background in my apartment in Frisco, TX on 26 June 1996 eating a supreme burrito from Taco Bell while watching the NBA draft on TNT when it was announced the Lakers actually drafted 17 year old Kobe at number 13 by trading Vlade Divac for the rights to Kobe. I'd been hearing that Jerry West loved Kobe after watching him whip butt on Michael Cooper at the Inglewood YMCA a few weeks earlier. West engineered a trade to draft Kobe which cleared cap space to sign Shaq at the same time. The next day I watched Jerry West say Kobe was the key to multiple championships during an ESPN interview.
  17. @Gerry Hamilton Any notable basketball recruits other than Beckham Black visiting for Ohio State?
  18. Kareem played 20 seasons, appearing in 1,560 regular-season games. He even played 80 games during the 1983–84 season when he broke Wilt Chamberlain's scoring record, and played 79 games at age 38 in 1985 when he was the best player in the world during the Finals against the Celtics. Kobe believed he owed everything to the people who saved up money to watch him play, knowing it might be their only chance to see him live. He played every game he could walk, famously playing the entire 2009-2010 season when the Lakers beat the Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals with a broken index finger on his shooting hand.
  19. @Gerry Hamilton Neither Kareem nor Kobe took a game off for "load management" in twenty years of regular season play.
  20. Here we go. Kobe Bryant is the only man known to have told Michael Jordan straight to his face that he could kick his ass in a 1-on-1 game when he 21. Jordan later stated Kobe was only man who could have possibly beaten him 1v1.
  21. Glad to see AI says 22 year old 2001 Kobe would beat prime 1986 Bird 1v1. Curry ain't close.
  22. Let's go to Curry. Given that he couldn't defend my grandmother, why should I think he's anything other than a gen z pansy? There's no way Kobe or Jordan wouldn't kick his ass. I don't care about shooting metrics in the post man defensive rules. What say you?
  23. Arch is going in the draft in 2027. He'll go first overall because no NFL GM would ever try to explain to his fanbase why he didn't draft Arch Manning. My guess is the Mannings have the pull to force trade away from a team they absolutely don't want. Doubt it comes to that. Atlanta is trying to tank. Miami is trying to tank. Jets, Cardinals, Panthers, Titans, Raiders, Browns, Saints... They'll all suck and they'll all want him.
  24. I think something must have happened recently with Blue and Cowboys. All reporting all camp long was that Blue would have a roll and there was no way he wouldn't make the team.
  25. Arnold's still a one read goober who holds the ball way too long and takes too many sacks.
