  1. If this guy and Danny Davis are correct, she's the first UT Freshman pitcher to do it. https://x.com/ChrisBrown_AL/status/1796362869136851275?t=Mqpo0e6jSIR2roRCYj3GGg&s=19
  2. I believe she is the first TEXAS freshman to throw a shutout in the WCWS... not the first ever overall. Although I admit I can't tell you for sure that's the case. The graphic was specific to Texas history.
  3. Why illegal? If you're thinking safety, she had a pitcher's mask on. Even without the mask, I would think they'd be ok as long as they meet safety protocols. We know some pitchers wear corrective eyewear (Rx glasses), so why wouldn't sunglasses be ok? Outside of safety protocols, the only reason I could see shades not being allowed would be if the sunglasses created a distraction by reflection of light .
  4. The horrible call on Dayton's slide at home is yet another example of umpiring incompetence. White had to burn a challenge on an obvious blown call. Luckily, he hasn't had to challenge another yet. Still 1.5 innings before possible crew reviews.
  5. I wonder how much MLB paid him to go away. They had to want him out badly and have shown that they don't have the balls to fight the union and fire him outright.
  6. OK, so I was being the slightest bit sarcastic. Good riddance, although he has provided some real comedy gold while screwing up every MLB game he umpires.
  7. They overturned the ones that Price and the A$M coach challenged in game 1. I didn't count them all, and bang-bang play challenges will be iffy. But some of these calls are so horrid that it's impossible to believe all 4 umps missed the calls. The foul off Trinity Cannon's foot was so obvious it never should have needed to be challenged by A$M.
  8. Softball has an umpire problem that they need to fix. Either give coaches more challenges or let them keep challenges if they are upheld. Almost every game I have watched has some horribly obvious missed calls that required challenges and coaches are often out of challenges by the 4th inning or earlier. A few examples from this weekend 1. Mike White had to use challenges on obvious missed calls that should have been resolved by the 4 umps on the field instead of having to use a challenge. 2. The A$M coach had to use a challenge on the ground ball "triple play" that was fouled off the batters foot. It was obvious that happened, yet the four blind mice missed it and required A$M coach to make the challenge. 3. LSU got screwed on the ground ball that I believe hit the runner. They didn't review that, but they should have used a crew chief review (unless those aren't allowed until 6th inning and if not, why not?). It would have been the third out and 1-0 Stanford. Instead, Stanford scored 6 more runs with two outs. NOTE: There were questionable calls in both directions, but this one was huge. The questionable umpiring has been hard to stomach, even in games in which I'm not emotionally invested.
  9. Well, there's no crying in baseball, but this is softball. There is crying. There is also chanting, singing, cheering, laughing and all kinds of other fun and emotions. It's one of the reasons I like to go to softball games. The ladies get into it!
  10. Gotta believe that surviving this Super at home the way they did has to help going forward. But they need to tighten up the defense and also the early part of the game. Glad I don't have to hear the never ending bs that I would have heard from my aggie neighbor if a$m had won.
  11. Clearly, Mike White is suffering from the OTF curse. The Horns haven't looked this bad, outside of maybe the Okie Lite series.
  12. Who's pitching tonight? Is it Boogie Whitehead? If not, I would assume Charley Hurley since he has most rest of last week's starters.
  13. hmmm.... I got my info from mlb.com, but maybe they either haven't updated it or.I found an archived page.
  14. Even if they've been in college < 3 years, they don't have to be 21 at the time of the draft. They just have to turn 21 within 45 days of the draft. I know that doesn't affect Belyeu, but it's what makes Flores eligible.
  15. It's there, over the number 1 but a little wider. Just the standard Roman numeral XII.
  16. I think the possibility of getting toasted on Sept 7 in Ann Arbor might have weighed in on the Michigan miss, but I guess we'll never know.
  17. I don't have direct knowledge of it, but was told by someone who has a couple of connections in the athletic department that the staff can get some limited leniency for a small handful of "Preferred" walk ons who are on the cusp of acceptance but may not make it without the athletic "push". Don't know how true that is or how many they can push for if it is true, but it makes a little bit of sense in some cases. I imagine @Bobby Burton has some contacts who would know for sure.
  18. ...he'd be destined for the IL
  19. Early start (noon CT) on Sunday
  20. We have a Tulo sighting!
  21. You didn't have to go to the hospital when you lost your hand during that recruiting? Just busting your chops a little bit. 😁 I qualify for Medicare, so I know I'm well past the halfway mark. 🙂
  22. Wow, that's one hell of a birthday sentiment, even if it's true. I bet you're great in hospitals. Happy Birthday Gerry! Jerky for everyone!
  23. ¡Hola!
