  1. Portal window is just for entry. When the window closes, recruiting, visiting, or committing can still be a free-for-all. It only truly ends for a player when he has officially enrolled or has financial benefits of some kind.
  2. It looks like a key to our success on defense this season will be the pass rush. Not to knock our returning starters at Edge, but we've seen Sorrell and Burke for a lot of snaps. They struggled to get sacks last year, even with two All-American level players at DT. Can they improve some from last year? Sure. But I'm not expecting major leaps from them. Based on the spring game and practice reports, our most effective pass rush looks to come from Trey Moore, Colin Simmons, and Colton Vasek. At least one of them, if not 2-3, should be in there on passing downs. They're just at a different level in terms of pass rush ability. (Obviously A. Hill will be a mainstay at LB). If we get too predictable in substitutions, opponents will just go no-huddle on 3rd down and catch us with Sorrell and Burke. Do you think we'll see different pairings on the Edge? How do you all think this plays out in '24? I don't think we'll have the juice we need in the pass rush if Sorrell and Burke are out there on too many passing downs. I'm curious to see what combos are used, and how we substitute.
  3. Ouch, @Hookem97. I know Vandy is lower tier, but they're still SEC!
  4. I think you're wrong about PK. Texas was 4th nationally in rushing yards allowed per game. 13th Nationally in points allowed at 17.5, and #1 nationally in 3rd down conversion percentage. It's elite in the stats that really impact winning and losing. Could it be better in 2:00 situations? Yep. But suggesting that he's not a championship level coach ignores the fact that we did, in fact, win a conference championship for the first time in well over a decade.
  5. When y'all had him on the show, I said he'd commit on OTF. I was wrong, but not by much.
  6. Love that comment about Banks. Sounds like good natured fun.
  7. So happy you guys did this. I've been an OTF junkie for well over a year. Glad to be an OG. As an aside, the IT website, after some testing, hogged 24% of my computer's memory. Just having a tab open, not even active, just open, was a miserable experience technically. I jettisoned that bookmark and now I can use my computer without the sluggishness and lag that I had. (I never had problems on mobile, but my PC HATED that website.)
  8. He starts every press conference talking about another Longhorns team on campus. Seems really good for overall morale in the athletic department for the guy with the most eyeballs to consistently talk about other coaches and teams.
  9. For a HS kicker, he's got a great swing. Tons of potential.
  10. Neto is really the only guy I'm worried about. I think he's going to be really good. I'd hate to end up playing against him in week 2 with a chip on his shoulder.
  11. It would be really difficult to play QB in the NFL with only one year playing college ball. The success rate would be really low. He's thinking long-term. He needs at least 20 starts. So that's all of 25 and either most of 26 or, less likely, most of 2024. Odds are that he plays 25 and 26, and then probably off to the NFL.
  12. Thanks, CJ. This gives us a pretty good look at where the portal activity will probably come from. Absolute minimum of 4, but probably closer to 7, and that's adding just two guys and putting Auburn on scholarship.
