What if Casey Thompson never hurt his thumb
LonghornFan4Ever replied to akhookem's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Texas wins 7 or 8 regular season games and plays in a bowl for sure imo. I also wonder how the Arkansas game goes if Thompson had been named the starting QB from game 1. Honestly, the offense Texas had in those three games in the 2021 season is the offense I think Texas will have over the course of this season. The OL was not good back then either, and they still had that level of output offensively. They should be able to replicate that production in 2026. Hopefully Coleman can provide similar or superior production to a true freshman Worthy and Wingo is superior to any #2 WR Texas had in 2021. While there aren’t any RBs as good as Robinson and Johnson, I do think the running game will have a strong output with Brown, Smothers, and Cooper. Plus this team has better TEs.- 1 reply

I’ve been itching so bad for football that I’ve began rewatching 2021 games before the season fell apart because that’s far enough back for me to not remember every sequence of the game lol. Casey Thompson against Texas Tech, TCU, and OU was a gamer. Say whatever about the competition or defenses he was doing it against but there are plenty of impressive plays and throws he made. I mean he made throws that Quinn, as much as I love him, missed repeatedly deep. Deep posts, the corner fade to Joshua Moore against OU. Strangely enough that offense with him seemed to have more consistent accuracy on the deep ball than we’ve seen since. I just think Casey was better than we give him credit for because he was on a bad team and got hurt and finished the year poorly. Hearing people talk about KJ Lacey and his “chain moving” style of play and gamer-ism he has I’m excited to see KJ in 2028 if he wins the job.

Bingo! Texas is one of the few programs that has the athletes to successfully run Muschamp's scheme. Not saying it will be that good, but the offense should more closely resemble 2019 LSU or 2020 Alabama because of the upgrades at the skill positions as long as the OL takes a few steps forward.

Issues with the defense were scheme related, so a coaching change was needed. Issues with the offense were mostly talent related, so more talent was needed.

45 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 45?

Yeah, I’ve wondered and speculated with friends who are somewhat closely or semi-connected to the team if that was a watershed moment for PK. Nobody confirmed it with me, but nobody disagreed either. I honestly didn’t think Sark would pull the trigger and make a change, but I certainly gained a little more respect for him when he did.

I have become a big fan of Texas softball since Mike White became the head coach. I came across a video interview with new assistant coach Rick Fremin on YouTube. Sorry, I don’t know how to link it here. The YouTube channel is called In the Circle with Coach Pat. Search for it and listen to the interview with Rick Fremin. He seems very impressive in how he coaches and recruits.

Any truth to a Columbus based bank becoming UT sponsor?

I hope so; I don't believe our Defense was lacking in turnovers however..(We led the SEC in defensive turnovers) All I am bringing up is the fact Defense was not the reason the ultimate season goal fell short for at least the last 2 seasons. It was offense. I get the sunshine pump and the nostalgia, and even the mentality change that WM will bring, but I dont understand how majority of folks are more confident in him to produce a better defense when statistically and even visually Texas's defense for the past 2-3 seasons was the best its been in 10+ years! To those who say "well the offense will be better because Sark wont be involved or as involved in the defense." That's fine and well it should because we got better players around Arch, but if OH St puts up 35 on us, does he get involved with the Defense then?

The tradeoff is more turnovers and by default more offensive possession.
