Take a look at how much Texas spends in NIL then look at every offensive metric. If Texas misses the CFP and he refuses to make any changes it would be far from dumb.

IMHO this is an issue with multiple layers of issues. Peeling the onion back...lack of development particularly with GCG groups is first and foremost. Second is a finesse style of offense. Looks pretty but when it comes to Championship time you better be able to punch the opposing team in the mouth. Third is the acceptance of mediocrity along the OL. If it werent an acceptance of this...its really difficult to explain average or worse for several straight years. Fourth is are we recruiting the right guys. Not just big humans but does this dude provide the kind of punch we are looking for. And last but not least. Leadership is a real issue especially on the offensive side of the ball. Muschamp has done a really good job getting great production from multiple players through a myriad of injuries. Texas offense needs to either put up or shut up. Its pretty sad that the anchor of the team is a head coach dubbed an offensive genius with this poor of development at the QB position and inability to adjust and finish games through 4 quarters of quality ball. My point is that there os more than enough blame to pass around and have leftovers to dole out seconds. Texas has done a great job recruiting but havent turned those 5*s and high 4s into world beaters. Banks being the exception.

I think this highlight 3 things for the program not just OL, and I too want Sark to break through. 1. Weird limited rotations and limited development reps. Doghouses and best player indecision into mid season. 2. Out thinking rather than having base fundamentals down then adding on riffs 3. Mean, heat seaking OL... not just enamored with big human traits. Our recent RB, WR, and TEs may be similar. Defense does not have that problem.

I just don't see anyone with the last name Manning entering the transfer portal. Especially while being the favorite to start the next year at a place like Texas. Fix the interior of the OL.

Why would you want to replace Sark? That would be so dumb. -
Espn just wrote an article about how our defense will be the reason we make a deep run in the playoffs.

I think it’s a strength thing. The disposition just exacerbates it. Lawrence must be a dud or we’d see him for baker. Or, one if the Coleman brothers.the juggernaut problem is baker and Roberson are “culture” guys so they’ll never be replaced. Coleman is nasty and that’s what we need to your point. He hasn’t been here long enough to get tamed. I’m actually a big fan of dark but I think his intelligence is crippling the athletes. He was to outsmart everyone versus leveraging far superior athletes. Get your 5 most athletic hosses, strip down the run game, and ask them to take out at the nearest body. 5 down and 6 to go . Make blitzers pay for dating to come forward, lol

OU fires offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle

OSU didn’t run him off. He resigned to take OC job in the NFL Northwestern moved the football and scored on the Indiana defense -
They certainly haven't been grooming the next QB with live reads the way they should be. But I would still roll with our current guys and spend every dollar we have on a new OL in the portal this offseason. If we don't have the best OL in the country next year there are even bigger malfunctions in our roster management than the ones we already know about.

I had AI do an online synthesizing of all lists, article mentions, social media reputations, and services lists of all current to OCs, and Chip Kelly is mentioned in the top 12 and AI says is still considered one of the best in the Nation. I haven't been impressed, but he still has a top reputation. Number 5 is going to shock you. (These are all coordinators and not head coaches) 1) Mike Denbrock (Notre Dame) — Often cited as the best pure OC in the country. Strong scheme blending, excellent red-zone sequencing, and consistent production. 2) Mike Shanahan (Indiana) — Key to Indiana’s sustained success under Curt Cignetti. Efficient, balanced attack. 3) Shannon Dawson (Miami) — Helping drive one of the top offenses (Miami was ranked No. 1 in the Coaches Poll at one point). 4) Drew Mehringer (Oregon) 5) Kyle Flood (Texas) 6) Jason Beck (Michigan) — Highest-paid OC in the country (~$3M). 7) Charlie Weis Jr. (LSU) 9) Andy Kotelnicki (Kansas) — Creative RPO/motion specialist. 10) Arthur Smith (Ohio State) — Former NFL HC/OC; has Ohio State’s offense near the top in efficiency despite a recent loss. 11) Kendal Briles (South Carolina) 12) Chip Kelly (Northwestern) — Still one of the most innovative minds in the sport. Has produced a dramatic turnaround for Northwestern’s historically weak offense. Up and comers mentioned: 1) Mitch Dahlen (Oregon State OC) — Frequently called one of the hottest names on the market this cycle. Came from Kalen DeBoer’s staff (Alabama/Washington/Fresno State). First season as a full OC. 2) Brennan Marion (Colorado OC) — Known for his “Go-Go” up-tempo offense. Relatively young (around 38) after a stint as an FCS head coach. 3) Buster Faulkner (Florida OC) — Has made an immediate impact after leaving Georgia Tech. 4) Sean Brophy (Oklahoma State OC) — Only about 29; rising quickly after working with Eric Morris. Others on the radar include Kade Bell (Pitt), Seth Doege (Arizona), and various Group of 5/Power 4 assistants who have produced efficient units and are in the 30s or early 40s. -
I have heard a lot of positives around our defense.
-
...he gets the ball out quick, eyes are always downhill, and he's smooth in the pocket, but he's rare too. When he came in as a freshman and cooked us, I thought, "Dang this kid is something!" Rojo is having a good game. He knows how to pick up blitzes.

if arch leaves go grab brad jackson from texas state. he can run, knows the quick game, and has pocket presence for days

OSU didn't run him off, he went back to the NFL with a job offer. Saying that he's doing mediocre at Northwestern of all places is hilarious to me. He's calling plays to the talent he has. -

Well they're definitely not hiring anyone good. Venables is the type of DC you hire who thinks he can just win everything with good defense and puts all his resources there. On top of that, they have Jim Nagy who thinks he knows everything and probably has way too much power for a guy at his position. People worrying about them hiring Chip Kelly don't need to worry. Kelly would never put up with that crap and would want full control. If he doesn't get that, why would he bother? At Northwestern he has full control to do what he wants. Which is working. I expect they'll hire another up and comer, give him some discount pieces to work with and then fire him in a few years time. Jason Witten being the play caller is going to be laughable. -
Good stuff. It's a shame it might be wasted.
-
I have no idea about those people, I'm just saying that people give CDC way too much credit for things. He's a good dude and does his job well but none of those decisions will be his to make. He'll just be the one to deliver the news.

I don’t see Sark running it back with the same offensive staff if Texas misses the CFP. Fingers will be pointed at Flood and Sark as an OC. Long overdue. -

If Sark opens the QB competition up, I'm not convinced that the 3-star KJ beats out the 5-Star Dia when it's all said and done. -

Mediocre. I've watched them 2x this year against a bad Oregon and Penn State defense and it's not that special. It reminds me of Greg Davis' zone read 2-man passing game offense. And OSU ran him off. Their defense won that Natty for then, not that offense. -

mmdaytontexas replied to Jordan Scruggs's topic in On Texas Football Forum
He didn't even stick at Ohio State which is one of the premier programs in the country. He did nothing for UCLA, and on and on. He has not been that successful since he left Oregon where he was a super star, and his offense at Northwestern which I've watched 2x now is nothing special. I think he's way overrated, and Rice is putting up better numbers than Texas so that isn't saying much. -
I doubt Dia would be leaving. He has only been here a year. KJ I would bet transfers though unless Sark can convince him to Mac Jones it, but this day and age with NiL I don’t see it. Next year will be Arch, Dia and the incoming freshman and probably portal a 4th guy with experience as insurance like we have done every year.

They may not be their qb1 to start out. -
10 touchdowns in 8 games, or 1.25 td per game. Freaking fierce, hope we keep flying under the radar that way. Also, the defensive leaders and Muschamp need to get after the offense’s a$$ to get their 💩 together and start scoring so freaking points.
