11 Days Until Kickoff: DJ Headlines A Loaded Group
GDI replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
I was at that game, one of the most exciting games I have ever seen. Carlisle was put in at DB on that last drive and intercepted Trull in the end zone to secure the win. 7 to 3 Texas. Defensive/field position games can be exciting. BTW Baylor QB was nemesis Don Trull. -

It's not really that hard of a decision. Brandon just opens his offense up more than McIntyre. He's had good success with true Fr QB's. Although I hope we pummel him into the ground in week 4. -
He is like LSU is getting all that attention and daddy Campbell said for me to be the attention

24 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 24?
BurntOrangeHorn replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
Ford was the first I saw in person and he was instrumental to winning the 1963 National Championship. I cannot remember what position or if he played on defense in those one platoon days. Koy and his older brother Ernie, Junior (#23), were both great for Texas!! Jam I would love to hear from as he seems to have disappeared after playing at Texas. Clayborn was a star at Texas and in the NFL. π€π»π€πΌπ€π€π½π€πΎπ€πΏ -

Glad you brought that up. Duke did play both ways quite a lot. That interception was a fantastic play against an All American Quarterback and receiver. Hookβem π€π»π€π» -
Joey McGuire is a really weird dude. His lack of self awareness is bizarre. Texas Tech people have learned absolutely nothing in this entire scenario. They still view themselves as the victims.

The comments are great. My favorite: βHe literally gambled on football πππ Texas Tech up 7 on LSU at the moment.β

11 Days Until Kickoff: DJ Headlines A Loaded Group
Hawk44 replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
You should have also mentioned that Duke Carlisle actually played both ways at times during his Texas career. Playing both ways was done quite often in those days. I may be remembering incorrectly but I seem to remember Texas beating Baylor and Joe Trull in Memorial Stadium (was not DKR yet) and Carlisle having a game saving interception. I am old so my memory may not be remembering that correctly and I didn't take the time to look it up. -

Weβre down to 11 days until Texas kicks off the 2026 season and No. 11 has been worn by some phenomenal players. Derrick Johnson headlines the group. One of the best defensive players in school history, DJ finished with 458 tackles, a school-record 65 tackles for loss, won the Butkus Award and Nagurski Trophy, and was a unanimous All-American. Sam Ehlinger finished his Texas career with 11,436 passing yards, 94 passing touchdowns and 33 rushing touchdowns while becoming one of the defining Longhorns of his era. Major Applewhite threw for 8,353 yards and 60 touchdowns, won Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 1998 and was the 1999 co-Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Duke Carlisle quarterbacked Texas to the 1963 national championship and was also named team MVP and an Academic All-American that season. And P.J. Locke III rounds out the group after appearing in 47 games with 31 starts, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors and serving as a team captain. Whoβs your favorite Longhorn to ever wear it?

24 Days Until Kickoff: Who Was The Best No. 24?
MarkInAustin replied to Blake Munroe's topic in On Texas Football Forum
When Earl and Shearer were juniors on the team Clayborn was the team's MVP! He was electrifying as a returner and for me is one of the five greatest DBs in UT history. He was so fast and so fluid. And strong enough to take turns at RB on a team that included Campbell and Leaks. I think he averaged near 7 yards per carry on offense.
