Disagree with you on this one. Does Coach Vic frustrate me at times? You bet. But facts are that since Coach Conradt, Texas hasn’t been relevant in women’s bball until Coach Vic came. And Texas had some elite recruits before his time as well - but part of recruiting is on the coach. Coach Vic has recruited more elite players than Texas has seen in prior years. Karen Aston would pull maybe 1 or 2 in (Ariel Atkins) and got lucky that Brooke McCarty was good, but she wasn’t elite. Part of the reason UConn and the other schools win is because they have way more talent than the rest of the league. I argue it’s a lot easier to win when your starting team is composed of the top 50 players in the country. During their Dynasty UConn had the top ranked recruit almost every year. Now Texas is in the conversation to get those types of players where in previous years they wouldn’t even have a chance.

That camp performance clearly stuck with the staff, getting the offer this early gives Texas a real head start.

Portal retention is gonna matter more than a few extra garbage-time snaps. An experienced LB addition could help, but keeping that young depth intact is the bigger win.

Roy, you've said this a couple of times. Two things can be true at once: Just because I believe OU has an elite defense doesn't discount the fact that I also believe Texas has an elite defense. Both things can be true. And I believe both things are true.

I'm not throwing shade or anything of the sort on Tyler Atkinson. But Okpala and Cummings are likely priorities IMO.

Yeah, I have a feeling there will be a huge effort to retain a lot of defensive players while adding key players at positions (at least one experienced LB comes to mind and maybe a S. Just off the top of my head anyway). I would've liked to see them get a bit more run to build depth but perhaps it's a trust thing?

They are true freshman. They should stick around.

Coach Vic is a top five coach in women's college basketball. He has been knocking on that championship door for the past ten years. He has gotten really close, but no cigar yet. We have been relevant since he showed up at Texas. His teams are powerful defenders, play the best, and win their share. Two Final Fours the last two years. He has a bunch of elite eights! The guy is a great coach. Hopefully, before he retires he can get to the mountain top.

Bjorn will get lots of minutes. I see Crittendon starting because we need her size on the court. Coach will have a lot of options. Izi is a big, strong girl with a very physical style of play. She also has an outside shot. It will be a blast to see how it all pans out.

You think Bjorn is more of a likely starter than Crittendon? I'm also a little surprised that you have Vann as a lock as I figured Crittendon would start at the 4 and the open position would be between Vann/Clark. The lineup you posted with Clark starting would move Booker to the 4 which would be an interesting look for us.
